Despite a level 2 snow emergency there was no snow day for me today. I did, however, get the be really late to work today and have none of the usual consequences (except I don't think I'll get paid for 8 hours of work today like I did yesterday, but I was able to leave before working 8 hours, and I didn't get in trouble with the boss-man). The roads were actually better today then they were yesterday. It took me about a half and hour to get my car out of the snow. Actually I almost wasn't able to get in my car to get the ice scraper thingies. Fortunately my mom's car was less iced up then mine, so we were able to get her scrapers out and use them to get my car door open.
It was kinda cool actually. There's about 3-4 inches of snow, then about an inch of ice and a sprinkling of snow on top of the ice. In some places the ice was thick enough to hold my weight, so I spent a bit of this morning pretending to be Legolas walking around on top of the snow. ^_^; Geeky but fun.
Most people were really late to work, but only one person in my immediate department called off. It was a much more productive day then yesterday, probably because there were more people around.
This flamingo is not visible from under the snow, just to give you an idea of how much we've got now. (note, there's about two inches of snow on the ground in the picture.) I imagine the flamingo's going to look really nasty once the snow melts. Definitely not an outdoor decoration.
