Side note for friend. You said: "Usually I find these sorts of quizes rather dull but I thought this one was a little more thought provoking than most... I'd love to know what YOU would say in response to these too

Things you just can't do... well, you might want to do #2 to help you do #3. But I know what you mean!
Since I've left college I've put on weight and struggled not to put on more... I just can't seem to get down to my goal weight. Deep down I know that this means I'm eating too many calories (or at least too many of the wrong kind) and not getting enough exercise -but I don't think I overeat for the most part and you'd think I could get plenty of exercise through my job!
Getting exercise in a busy life can be tough...
I don't know if you have time to exercise in the morning but I know that I do seem to do better when I can get myself on a regular sleep schedule and get up early to get some exercise in addition to my morning walk. Though it sounds like sleep depravation can actually encourage overeating (and particularly of bad carbohydrates that make you crave yet more carbs and also make it harder for you to sleep soundly making you crave carbs again... a vicious cycle: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4206263 )
A friend of mine who commutes lost a lot of weight from her middle by clenching her stomach muscles every time she was stopped by a traffic light or every time a car passed her on the highway. As a variation on this I've taken to clenching my stomach muscles as Akai and I walk then I do abdominal twists every time he stops to pee on a tree. I may not be losing much weight but this seems to at least keep most of it off my middle. It also helps to wear/carry weights when I go for my morning walk but this is hard on my joints!
Hmmm interesting research. I like the idea of clenching stomach muscles while stopped in traffic. And since I live in LA I could do alot of that. Unfortunately, at the moment all of my energy is taken up not pounding on the horn and screaming and giving in to road rage. Every time I learn to accept a bad habit all LA drivers possess, a new one pops up and tries my patience. At the moment the current one is three point turns in front of on coming traffic. That has been happening to me at least once a week for the past month and it is driving me crazy. I am doing 45 and this idiot does a three point turn 200 feet infront of me and everyone has to slam on their brakes to avoid hitting him. I hate to admit it, but every time I go through .3 seconds of indecision while I think about giving into my desire to not slow down and slam into the side of the car. Teach them a lesson. Yeah, LA is a little stressful and brings out the worst in all of us.
