It has taken me one full week, but I finally have my room (and most of the new apartment) in order and to my liking.
I'm a really big fan of the LJ community
Saucy Dwellings, where people post pictures of their rooms, houses, or sections within that are creative, vibrant or otherwise saucy. My apartment/room is nowhere close to the caliber of the posted photos, nor do I have the house, money or passed down vintage furniture to make it so. So in the meantime, I'm going to do my own posting outside the community so that I don't get kicked out for being comparably unsaucy.
But! I'm done arranging and my room is good enough for me, for now. If nothing more, my room pics will be fun to review when I'm many apartments/houses down the line, thus rendering this a 2010 room time capsule, if you will. So here we go.

The room's too small and oddly angled to get a full shot, but here's what most of it looks like upon entering.

One cool piece of furniture that used to be in my parents' den is this mahogany table, where the top folds out to four panels of beautiful wood lined with gold trim. I choose to junk it up with dead, dried roses my boyfriend made me and a picture of me at Karl Marx's grave, donating my high school copy of his Communist Manifesto.

I'm a fan of dim lighting in the bedroom, which makes for a cozy sleepyspace, but makes for rubbish photographs.

Atop my dresser is where my tarantula, Zarathustra lives in his cage where he chills most of the time. I have a ton of photos in a wooden container, and some of my favorite college moments and my favorite LA views on the wall. I'm a big fan of black, matted picture frames, and plan to cover that whole wall in blocks of them one day.

This photo is a collaboration of some of my Ohio hometown's beautiful doorways; city hall, clocktower, church entries and even my godparents' front door. I recall this picture from my youth, hanging in the dining room of a childhood friend's house, and I've always loved it. Years later, my friend's mom would go on to marry the photographer who distributed these prints. And ta da! Now I have one of the few left.

No, assholes, my bed and corresponding furniture is not from Ikea, so please stop asking. I'm proud to say that (save one shelf) my room is Ikea-free and everything is handed down/stolen or has been lugged around by me from multiple apartments for several years.

(Corner atop my nightstand) Even with all my shelving, I run out of room.

What circuit breaker panel?

Segway into my closet hall area.

I love having plants in my room, and I especially love ivy. This plant is new, but I hope I can keep it alive until it has leaves all the way down to the floor.

Really old and moderately unattractive dolls my grandmother brought back from Africa and an accompanying photo of us together some 13 years ago. I wish she were still alive for many reasons, but certainly so she could explain these "valuable" dolls and why they kinda freak me out.

Smells like...Mitchum.

Organized clutter composed of cards, photos and reminders, necklaces, etc. And my cat's pretentious water fountain, designed to deter her from drinking from the sink.

And my bathroom (which serves as the guest bathroom as well). I've been told I have the most amusing bathroom and also the creepiest because of all of the faces, including my lovely light-up pope clock. It's ok- I'm not Catholic!

I love my shower curtain. Many don't. Whatever, it gives me esteem and a sense of adoration.

This is a shot of our old living room. Unlike my room, the new living room setup is pretty much the exact same layout as pictured, except of course, it being a completely mirrored image and having a much awesomer view. I have enough faith in you that you can imagine what the new living room looks like.

Thanks for letting me entertain you in my bedroom! Mmk bye now.
