Title: Soothed by the Sound
Author:
erikssirenCharacters/Pairings: Troy
Rating: G
Summary: He let the sound of their voices wash over him, fill him with the confidence everyone assumed came to him naturally. Set sometime before HSM (or HSM 3, it doesn't really matter)
Disclaimer: Disney owns it all.
Author's Notes: I'm having total writer's block on another fic, so I was looking through my fic folders and found this, so I typed it up. It's inspired by the line: "Hear the crowd getting loud/I get soothed by the sound" from "Scream." It's my first non-romantic HSM fic, so I hope you like it! Please review and let me know!
Troy’s muscles screamed in protest as he raced down the court toward the basket, his teammates and his opponents rushing beside him. The team’s dedication this season had pulled off, the Wildcats had given him the perfect opening to sink the ball and end the game.
But suddenly a blur of green flew out of nowhere and he found himself flat on his back, gulping for air. The gym erupted in a cacophony of boos and shouts as Chad raced over to help him up. His ears rang from the cheering as he shook off the blow and walked toward the line for the penalty.
The ref handed him the ball and the teams lined up quickly. They had mere minutes left in the game and were currently tied so both sides were playing a bit rough. All he had to do was make this basket and they would qualify for the championships. His hands trembled slightly as he bounced the ball to set up the shot.
The gym filled with cheers and encouraging shouts as he bounced the ball once more. He let the sound of their voices wash over him, fill him with the confidence everyone assumed came to him naturally.
He let the ball fly from his hands and the entire room held its breath as it sailed toward the small metal rim. It sunk smoothly through the nylon netting and the building shook from the noise. The buzzer sounded and the deafening sound grew even louder.
Troy’s teammates surrounded him in a mass of high-fives and slaps on the back and he couldn’t see anything but jerseys and grins. Soon the stands emptied onto the floor and he saw only the blur of red, white and gold clad spectators that swept Troy up in their adoration.
He grinned as their congratulations and cheers cooled the adrenaline in his veins and he knew there was no sweeter sound in the world.

Good? Bad? I don't usually write Troy, but sometimes it's fun to get into his head and put thoughts there, lol.
