Monday humor - the wolves

Anna: So you're just going to throw them to the wolves?

Barry: No, we don't *throw* them.  We *appropriate* them towards the wolves.

Political doublespeak.  Keep people distracted by the lights and glitter while you work your tricks behind the scenes.  It has been an interesting and intense political season.  Tomorrow is the big day (unless you voted early).  I've just finished making all of my decisions based on researching I did of each candidate.  President, U.S. House, State House, U.S. Senate, State Senate, County Sheriff.  Some choices were very easy for me, some margins were very thin.  I've heard plenty of slander from both sides.

I honestly don't have much faith in "the system".  I believe that politics is more about people of power scratching each other's backs than looking out for their constituents, and that most people are short sighted and lazy enough to let it slide.  If you let them get away with it, it becomes an edge that they have over their opponents and a trait that proliferates.  It is like cheating in high school.  Kids that cheat can get a grade advantage over the kids who don't, and if you catch a kid cheating and let them go, their success will prompt more of the same behavior.  I'm not arguing the morality of it, I'm just saying that the more successful strategies tend to be the ones to propagate.  The same applies to politics.  If people really held politicians to their promises then we wouldn't have a history of such dishonest ones, but people don't.

Despite my lack of faith, I'm still getting up extra early to vote.  My sense of duty carries me beyond my doubts.  It often has.
