This week has flown by and I can't believe it's already Thursday.
Friday night I helped out at the Seattle Men's Chorus Annual Art Auction. I worked the registration desk with this woman who had a terrible time explaining what she wanted us to do. Her system, which she was super proud of, had several important flaws, but she was NOT interested in hearing how to fix them. lol
During the night, I was recruited, then let go, then recruited again to help out with the clerk recording. My friend helped me out so I ended up running the bid sheets back to the people who were being paid to record the amounts. I took a couple of mini breaks to bring the other two I was working with some food...and ate some myself.
Saturday, I'm not sure what I did, but I do know I didn't get to sleep too long.
Sunday, I headed down to Portland for a celebratory dinner at Roux. Yeah, I know 2 1/2 hours is a bit long to drive to have dinner, but I do love the cajun food there and they were giving away drinks and having a 'buy an entree, get one free' deal for people who got their celebration email. lol
While I was in town, I happened upon a yarn store where I picked up 3 skeins of yarn that were similar to something I had gotten from a friend--now I just have to figure out what I want to make with it. lol
The drive back was long and we didn't get home until 10:30pm. Monday was busy and I managed to work out at 5:45am. I went to my first meeting of the research group at school. It seems like this will be pretty easy and not take up too much of my time...which is a good thing since I'm trying to get a management position here at work.
I was pulled into a meeting last week with a senior manager who wanted to give me some pointers on how to get the job. I met with the director of my group yesterday to get some more pointers. They both said that I needed more experience managing. Want to tell me how to get that experience without being a manager? lol
So I have my interview tomorrow at 1pm and I'm not sure if I even want this job now. The director wants someone who will do miracles but still schedule some clients, the senior manager wants someone who will manage the team like she would and my bozz (which I would be effectively replacing should I get this position) just wants someone who will keep things status quo. Last I knew, Jesus was the last one who held the miracle worker position. lol
Went to the movies on Wed night to see Michael Clayton. George Clooney was amazing in it--and I don't normally like him in anything! It was filmed beautifully and is a really great story. I suggest that everyone go and see it when it opens next week.
I'm watchng "Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room" and I'm just amazed at what these people have gotten away with for so long. They basically did all this magical accounting with made up numbers. They gave million $ bonuses to executives based on future projections--there was no money to be giving these bonuses. I really enjoyed this one reporter girl who simply asked 'How does Enron have any money?'. This was the question that got the ball rolling.
