comp's dying
my computer basically ate it's ZIP-250 drive awhile back and now all of a sudden it says it doesn't have any of its 3 cd drives. it only says it has a hard drive, a floppy, and the broken ZIP-250... so i'm thinking i may have a virus... i can't back anything up b/c all of the drives i would use to make copies of things are dead...
so here's what i'm thinking...i'm not gonna have an internet computer of my own for several MONTHS now... i have NO money saved up that could help me pay for a new comp. i'll be able to use the comp i'm borrowing for any typing/printing i simply can't wait to get done and i can get online enough to check my mail either at school or on my mom's comp downstairs.
and, yes, i know i could probably fix a virus problem, but i also need a new copy of windows b/c the XP i keep installing has to be re-installed every 30 days b/c we have no product code for it and my printer won't work with XP... and i love my printer!! it uses cheap, easy to find ink! and i prints great quality (especially for one made in '97).
so...virus or not (could just be a dying computer for all i know... i don't know comps too well) i'm gonna start saving for a new one... and i'm thinking i'll just go ahead and get a laptop so i can take it to school with me. but i'll also need either a new printer or a new copy of windows ME (go ahead and hate me for it, but i like that version and it works with my current printer)
next issue: my car is dying. not sure how much longer it'll last, but as soon as i get a new comp (or before, if the car conks out first) i have to start saving for a new car...
