Alot has happened in the last few weeks. I have a full time job now at Academy of Art University. On Monday through Friday, I support the online course system and build Access databases for the Cyber Campus department. amylaceous really helped me out by recommending me to her boss while I was living in Ann Arbor. Moving here was intense but I knew from day one that I was guaranteed a job and it was just a matter of time before I started working. When she moved here, though, it was a different story. She did not have a job lined up, rent was expensive, and she knew almost no one, aside from Evan, in the city. That didn't matter, though, because she truly wanted to be here. She ranked up a sizeable credit card debt on rent and groceries and she worked in a veterenarian clinic, barely getting by, for several months. Eventually, she found work at the Academy, but not until the second time when she interviewed for a completely different position than before. What I'm trying to say is that she persevered like no one else could and followed her dreams of living in a progressive, culturally diverse city. Believe me, if I was moving to the most expensive city in the country and I had no idea when I would ever be able to work...I would probably go home. But SF was always home for her and she took it upon herself to build a career and start a brand new life.

I never realized what she had been through until I moved here. You really have to know what you're doing. You can't just come here for the hell of it. You have to have a reason and truly believe in it.

When I intended to move I didn't have a reason. People would ask me, "why are you moving there?" "Well, my girlfriend wanted to move there", I'd say. "And it's a cool city." Now I feel like a have a reason. Working on interesting projects on the job and throwing cool events with my roomates is good enough for me. I like the people I meet and I enjoy the city's many complexities. It's going to teach me acrobatics, welding and kung fu all over again. This is only the beginning.
