Where did you find this?

I posted a while back about a disgusting cover story the Voice ran about AGs. I know the Post ran some really scary, horrific shit about this event, but this is what the voice had to say:

"Life as a young lesbian of color, of course, has its risks. In 2003, a young AG named Sakia Gunn engaged in a shouting match with a man named Richard McCullough at Newark's Penn Station after Gunn had returned from an evening of partying in the West Village. The altercation turned violent, and McCullough stabbed and killed Gunn. He's serving 20 years in prison. Last August, Patreese Johnson and six other women got into another shouting match with a man named Dwayne Buckle, a street vendor outside the IFC Center. Buckle was stabbed, and identified Johnson as his attacker, telling the press that he was the victim of a hate crime against straight men. Johnson has pled not guilty to charges of attempted murder and gang assault."

Note, both Gunn and Johnson were said to have instigated the shouting match that caused the altercation. No mention of Buckle's role in attacking the women was made. And this is THE VILLAGE VOICE!

i know that village voice thing was terrible! I only saw on their website and was like, i am reading villagevoice.com, right?

yet another horrible thing is how media and journalism just seem to feed off one another without having much (if any) independent investigation or opinion of their own.

The coverage of this story is probably one of the most terrifying about this whole thing.
