YES!!! There are so many more important issues that the city should be focusing on rather than trying to ban an activity that gives people joy and makes them feel good!
Tomorrow's protest is important for many reasons besides hula hooping. It is an important exercise of our First Amendment Rights. Here is a great article about this particular proposal and why it is significant. I am an avid hooper and even though I don't hoop on Freemont street, there has got to be a better way to deal with hoopers and independent street performers besides going to the extreme of issuing an outright ban.
signed. This is absolutely ridiculous. Tourists go to Fremont Street in order to have their "flow of traffic" specifically "obstructed" by entertaining things. You go there to see what crazy s*** people are getting up to on any given night. The city council needs to stop trying to turn it into a sanitized corporate branded "experience" that will soon be no experience at all.
