Because it totally is. So perfectly realised I don't even want to have fanfic. I don't even ship. The love had to spill over somehow, though. Here, have 1600 words of meta I wrote.

Hehe aww, Avatar! Back when I watched it, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread! I love it to pieces. Being me, this means (of course) I didn't quite watch all the canon (a few eps at the end I still haven't finished), but yeah. It's like it was written for me, storytelling/magic-user kinks, obsessive boys, elemental powers and all. I think 'Western Air Temple' was one of my last eps, so I really went out with a bang. I totally had paroxysms of love for platonic!Zuko/Aang. Or just Zuko and Aang. I'd say just Aang, but that's when I totally fell for Zuko (I was holding out before).

Shipping! I'm with Ivy in that I age them up, and assume it takes awhile for Katara and Aang to get together (though I hate long-distance, I think they can handle it). Also, older!Aang is weirdly both wrong and hot. I want them to go on some kind of bantery field-trip/hike together when Aang hits 18. It'd be pretty hilarious (in my mind). Oh Zuko-- Zuko/Mai is the one thing I can't stand. Don't ask me why. Something about it. Same reason I hated Spike/Dru, though hard to put into words; I hate 'same side' (well, mostly when it's dark-side) relationships, which makes me being all gushy for Katara/Aang all the weirder. It's 'cause I love Aang so much, though.

It's funny 'cause being me, I should be a shoe-in for Katara/Zuko, but it totally ding me at all (I had half a moment in that initial ep with them in the cave, but then he was a total asshole/teenage boy and Aang was awesome, and then Aang had more chemistry with Zuko when they half-froze, etc). I seem to remember all reason being swept away repeatedly by 'Aang is awesome', so he gets to have an older girlfriend or whatever else he wants, haha. I'm even worse with Aang than I am with Harry (I'd make a very spoil-prone parent). I like that Katara is immature in some ways 'cause it makes her more 'on the level' and suitable for Aang, less distressing to have to wait for him. They'd wait without even realizing they're waiting. Anyway, I think that when Aang grows older he'll be weirdly smooth in a totally dorky way, and will sweep Katara off her feet; two months in, they'll already be an old married couple.... :>

WHAT.

Oh no, you have to, have to watch the rest as soon as possible. If you've fallen for Zuko, then how can you not long to watch him being part of the Gaang?
And as for 'went out on a bang'... it's more like a fireworks display where there's a sequence of crack-crack-crack. Every episode from then on is gold. And FULL of Zuko.

As for Zuko/Mai, I promise you that after watching the rest you won't think they're anything like Spike/Dru. One of the very best scenes of the series stars Mai.

And Aang has a WONDERFUL finale.
