Plymouth/Bristol/places reachable therefrom
Hello!
Potentially fun news: I'm being sent to Plymouth on a two-week business trip. Flights and hotels are booked on the presumption that we fly back to Dublin for the intervening weekend, but it occurred to me that it might be far more interesting to stay in England if anybody within a reasonable radius wants to hang around for a while. I can book a hostel or cheap hotel somewhere; no need to put me up.
My knowledge of English geography and transport times/prices is scanty. Is anyone nearby?
The situation is that I'll be dropped at Bristol Airport at 3pm or thereabouts on Friday 12, and must make it back to this Plymouth hotel at some point on Sunday 14. Plenty of time for ale, funny accents and red postboxes.
In a sadder update, my apartment was broken into on Tuesday. My laptop, which is my primary computer, my camera and my mp3 player are all gone. From now on I think I'm going to be a determined convert to cloud computing. Even if I had transferred the pictures on my camera onto my computer, they would still be gone. I don't have a facebook or a flickr account, so they no longer exist. 'Safe as houses' for digitised possessions has now, I think, become a sad piece of sarcasm. It's the Gringotts of the Internet for me from now on... whenever I manage to replace them, that is.
