Pretty sure...unless I'm mistaken, we're almost in the same boat.

[Flynn? Being charming? Why yes - but who knows why. Also, he's referring to her most recent death, not the almost-one he doesn't know he caused. He never got to exploding bit back home just the beat-up and shot bit with the about to explody part.
Speaking of which, he's still looking crappy both from that beating and the one Drake gave him. Cuts, bruises, his pretty face is pretty mucked up.]

[ arching her brow, she bites back a comment or two and swallows them before they can pass her lips. she does, however, give him a bit of a frown. ever always the pity from this one ]

[ she might be more than a little pissed off at him, because she assumes that if she ever returns home she's going to die to the grenade he's set off in front of her there, but she can't help her voice going soft toward the man mid-way through her words to him ]

As for the grenade...well, our best friend forever - the one I just mentioned - didn't really give me much choice in bringing it along. You could say it was a bit of a gift with no receipt included.
But! Maybe you can tell me though why it is everyone says I set the bloody thing off, when it came here with me?
[Fingers steeple before him as he leans forward slightly. He probably doesn't realize that it brings the severity of his wounds into focus.]

I've been told that people can come from different areas of times in their lives. So maybe you're from before you set it off, but in my line; you definitely pulled the pin.

[ rolling her eyes, the blond takes a breath and holds it for a moment. she's still exceptionally unable to explain what the hell took place in that alleyway and she honestly can't find the words to express what it was like to wander as a "spirit" - so she's been having the most awkward time trying to formulate any coherent sentences to do with her current situation. this moment in time is no different ]

[Flynn laughs mirthlessly, then with a touch of hysteria.]
You think that bloody monster would leave me one? That was the whole point of his little game. He didn't give me a choice if I was going to die - don't know if you could tell, love, but that wasn't a kiss on my chest that he left me.
The only choice he gave me was to die alone by blowing myself to bits - or else take my other best friend with me.
[His smile is bitter.]
At the time...I admit I wasn't very happy with anyone - bit of a nuisance you know...getting beat up and shot - knowing you're going to die a failure - doesn't really put one in the best of moods.
[Then he shrugs and leans back, as if completely dismissing the situation.]
But, well, I was gifted a new lease on life here in this 'Somarium' place. Can't say I mind the opportunity to live - or the chance to reform - get a second chance.
That's what you wanted for me...wasn't it?
[Eyebrows raise as he glances up at her.]

[ her tone is sad and sympathetic. she frowns rather deeply at his dismissal of the whole situation. if ever there was a moment in her life of wanting to offer him a hug, this was it ]
The question is can you even change? I know what you said in that alley to Nate, I saw your brawl. [ mm, ghostly hauntings ] You're given another chance, so to speak, and the first thing you do is add more gashes and bruises to yourself.
[ after a moment of looking at him helplessly, she asks ]

[He doesn't like comparing himself to a beast, but he has a feeling the metaphor will work wonders with Elena's already fairly obvious pity for him. And, really, it's not even a lie - he would have much rather hit Drake.
He just shakes his head at her next words though...and is about to say something along the lines of 'Lazarevic doesn't tolerate traitors' when the woman says something that makes him pale considerably.
She...saw that? Lovely. Just bloody wonderful. Flynn has to do some quick thinking to maintain both his composure and his dignity. Inspiration barely hits him in time before his turn-another-leaf act can fail completely.]
Well...why do you think? To knock the poor fellow out of feeling sorry for himself.
[Flynn groans slightly as he rubs the back of his neck in painful recollection.]

[ she wouldn't have compared him to some creature. he really was looking out for himself throughout it all and in the end, it was human to want to live, no matter the situation. he made bad choices and got stuck with the short stick, but he didn't deserve to die because of it all ]
We - [ well, she had to think about that briefly, would Nate have really helped as much as she seemed to think he would? or Chloe? maybe it was just her, in the end ] - I would have helped you, you could have thrown it away somewhere, we could have brought you to Tibet, you might have been okay...
[ to the rest of his statement, though, she had to arch a brow to him. did he really think she was that naive? come now, Harry.
giving him a look, raising her brow and looking general unimpressed with his story, she shakes her head ]
...uh huh. I really doubt that, but if you say so.
[ she wasn't going to press the matter. she knew the boys disliked one another, maybe she didn't know the complete story as to why, but she knew the hatred existed ]

[He's always willing to take credit - even where it's not due. Well, and he did get bruised and battered for his 'troubles'.]

[ she frowned, though, at the mention of his sudden desire to halt in conversation. not that she wanted to talk to Harry Flynn all evening, chatter about their lives, catch up and become best buddies or anything, but it was safe for her to assume - or so she liked to think - that the man spoke with her for a reason and while he might have been doing so with the intent to be malicious, she thought he needed an ear ]

[ the reporter didn't know why she gave a damn. this was the man she should have been, by all rights, wanting to punch in the face because when she would go back home a grenade was going to explode and probably kill her and it was all because of him. but Elena just wasn't the type of girl to kick a man when he was down, it seemed. god help her for her naivety ]

Nathan Drake and his humanitarianism are an exception to that rule - and one that Harry Flynn has never bothered nor wanted to emulate.]
Listen, love. I don't really care to receive more of a certain someone's 'love and affection' just for talking with his girlfriend. I was just saying 'hi', you know, checking in with one of the few people from the 'Earth' I'm familiar with.
[And scoping things out for future reference, but if she's smart enough to perceive that his 'mission' with Nate had been anything but friendly than she probably already has figured his words now have other intentions. He shrugs.]
