How's it going, everyone? Sorry for the lack of updates - didn't mean for any of you to worry. I'm kickin' it in Damascus, Virginia; BACK IN VIRGINIA! The storms lately have been totally NUTS. I've been able to pull about 10 miles a day before the skies tear open above me and rain all kinds of hell down. I actually got electrocuted just outside of Roan Mountain about a week ago, but it wasn't too bad. I was standing about ankle-deep in rainwater on my way down Hump Mountain, and I guess it must have struck some way up the hill. Everything was cool, then it was suddenly very white, I felt terrible and my hiking pole was laying on the ground. Needless to say, I picked up my pace to the shelter.
Other than that, not too much has been going on. My mom drove down to see me today and make sure I'm really alive. She bought me lunch and brought a DERBY PIE. (Read as: "My mom is the greatest person in the world")
Ant is getting off the trail up here, but hopefully he'll come visit me in Roanoke before he heads back to London in a month. He's taking a long road trip with his girlfriend and then flying out of DC. It wouldn't matter too much, since people kind of come and go out on the trail, but he's become a regular drinking buddy out here, so I'd love for him to stop in. Plus, I'd like to solidify a friendship that could some day land me a couch to crash on if I want to visit England.
Anyhow, they're sweeping up in here, so I ought to get out of their way. Peace, love, and applesauce to all.
