Plotting Post: A New You

Tomorrow starts the “A New You” flood. And what is this flood? Well, we’re glad you asked! It is essentially a “bad canon” flood. Is your character in another version of his canon (a reboot or otherwise) that is absolutely atrocious? Or even just hilarious? This is your chance to play them from that particular canon ( Read more... )

There actually is something I think of as a bad fanon version of Una, although it's not really so egregious as to be amusing. Will ponder. Or ... oh man, if I can make myself sit through enough of Zardoz, maybe she'll be Consuella. Heh.

I haven't seen much Inception badfic, but ... would it be within the scope of the flood theme to have Mal basically be projection!Mal? That is to say: 100% obsessive with Cobb, definitely a bit unhinged, kind of murderous, and just sort of an awful person? If this will traumatize the people around her too much, I'll pass, but just thought I'd throw it out there. If anyone has other ideas, I'd love to hear 'em.

Elric teeters so close to self-parody sometimes. Maybe I'll just shove him right in. Or turn him into Nuada from Hellboy, since I already use those Luke Goss icons.

Is it wrong that I want her to like push Arthur down some stairs? :c

This could be made to happen.

Part of my thinking of why it might be a good idea to turn her into her projection self is that it would give her a lot of insight, both into Cobb and also how she may be perceived by others. She won't like it one bit, but it might give her a good solid push along the road to redemption. Obvs. one would need Arthur to verify that yes, that's what she's like in Cobb's dreams. Which he's told her about, of course, but experiencing it firsthand will be a whole different kettle of fish.

DEPENDING ON WHAT I DO WITH ARTHUR, OF COURSE. I'm having a hard time thinking up bad versions of him. I've seen... a lot of bad RPers for Arthur, but idk, I'd just feel like a HUGE JERK if I copied them for lols.

BUT YEAH, Arthur will definitely be able to verify after the flood.

Fair enough! Just let me know.

As far as Arthur goes ... the tropes with him that irritate me the most are basically the ones that turn all his canon tropes up to 20-making him fussy to the point of institutionalizable OCD, for instance; or turning him into a spineless drip for Eames or Cobb (depending on one's shipping preferences), and so forth. Maybe there's something there?

GOD YES. The ULTRA UPTIGHT Arthur trope, and the ~EEEEAAAAMES <333~ ones are the worst.

AND THE ONE WHERE ARTHUR'S JUST BUTLERTRON. And speaks in a ridiculously formal way and never uses contractions or swears.

Oh lord! I don't think I've seen Butlertron Arthur, but I can totally imagine how that happens. And ouch.

Arthur never swearing. Ha ha ha.

Dude. Projection Mal would be badass.

Also NOT HELP AT ALL with the relationship thing on Dick's end for the short term.

SEE COSTIGAN, SHE IS TOTALLY CRAZY :|

Nuada! That could be bad. "Hm, what's in this trunk? Oho!"

It may be that it's been too long since I saw Hellboy II for me to play a Nuada properly. :| Which is a shame, because that could be hilarious. (I'd have to have the chest not open for him though, because oh LORD.)

All I've got for knowing Inception canon is having seen the HISHE for it, where Mal rides through everything in a train. "That...that was my wife. Who may also try to kill us. If she gets the chance."

I love that thing. XD And ... it's not an unfair representation of the matter, either.

If you want to play projection!Mal for this one, I say go for it! It will be a learning experience for all involved.

It's entirely possible that this could do for her what the mirror flood did for the Rani back in the day-give her some insights she might have not gotten otherwise and give her a nice push toward the lessons she needs to graduate. So.
