Day one - Anders!

[And Buffy has just finished helping Anders settle into her home. He's staying in Dawn's room, as she only has two bedrooms. Earlier, Buffy had greeted Anders with a hug and a look of fondness, happy to have him here for the holidays, but still very sore and lonely from her sister's refusal to come back home for Christmas.

She's doing her best to be chipper.] So! I've got all of these lights that aren't going to hang themselves.. If you want, I'd really like some help. [Buffy smiles at Anders, leading him into her living room where there's a tree and boxes of outdoor decorations.] Or, not. Y'know.

I've been here hardly five minutes, and you're already demanding things of me? I'm glad to see we're passed the honeymoon stage [Anders teased with a warm grin. The hug had been well received; he'd perhaps held on for a moment too long.

It was nice, having company this time of year. Didn't mean he wasn't going to be a smartass, though]

I suppose I could be troubled. I have this sneaking suspicion if I left you alone I'd find you tangled in a knot of blinking lights.

[Buffy rolls her eyes at him, smiling.] Ha, ha, Anders. You're giving me like, no credit. I'm perfectly capable of hanging Christmas lights.. [Probably.] It's just better with help.

[Buffy side-eyes him and starts to guide him to her closet, where multiple boxes of Christmas lights and decorations are stored.] And I'm really gonna try to beat out the Hoffman's this year with decorations. Who else can I count on to have my back?

[Anders hold up his hands in mock defense] I'm perfectly aware that you are Buffy The Holiday Master, I'm just saying that a knot of lights can be a little tricky~

[He follows, and totally does not sneak a longing gaze. Not even a little bit]

[Buffy glances back at him with a smirk before picking up a box and handing it to him.] Well, good. I wouldn't have it any other way. [She is so oblivious to his feelings. So so oblivious.] So, I'm thinking, big decorating extravaganza today, hot cocoa tonight? There could even be marshmallows.

Totally will do ^^ The breach ended wut? *scrambles*

That sounds lovely. Mm, Marshmallows-- you always know just what to say [He takes the box, flipping open the lid and peering in at the knot of lights] So in ten years when I finally manage to untangle these, they go along the roof?

[Buffy picks up her own box and holds back a laugh.] Roof, trees, bushes. I want my front yard to look like the sparkly winter wonderland of over-the-top-ness. And since you're, uh, more fortunate in the height-department, you're on tree-duty first. [She's only 5'2 after all.]

[She peers over the top of his box.] Oh. They aren't that tangled... [They totally are.] Okay, untangle party first. [She starts to lead him to her living room, carrying her box.]

[Anders chuckled, peering down into the box of Christmasy tangled terror. Why wasn't this an AU where he could have magical light untangling powers?]

It's alright Buffy, I'm sure you've got ten other things you're supposed to be doing. I don't mind handling the lights for you.

[Woman, how can you not melt at that smile]

[She's just never thought of him that way. He's so in the friend zone for her. Not that it wouldn't or couldn't change... But right now it's a non-thought.] Nope. You're here as my holiday hostage. What I say, goes. [She smiles and finds a place on the floor, pouring out her own box of tangled lights and starting to try to find the ends.]

When did I go from guest to hostage? It was such a smooth transition, I hardly noticed! [His eyes glittered] You're not really going to use these to tie me up, are you?

Ha. Only if you refuse to help. [Missed the glitter-eyes. Oblivious. You're so funny when you pretend to be all flirtatious, friend of mine!] Dawn used to- [Oh. Sadness. She avoids that.] Nevermind. [LADEDA NOTHING WRONG HERE. She keeps untangling.]

You don't remember? Part of me is suddenly positive we're going to be pulling at least seven different breeds of lights out of this mess-- maybe even those cute little orange pumpkin lights you put up for Halloween

[So used to it, but you can't blame a guy for trying. He manages to free one string of lights before the touchy subject comes up]

Dawn used to get frustrated with this mess and go for the scissors, remember? [a chuckle] She may be growing up, but that girl has the patience of a five year old

[Perhaps a little happy reminiscing would lift Buffy's mood]
