Kirk - Deck chlorophylliac November 14 2011, 20:50:57 UTC
Ivy had awoken in furious rage - Harley's betrayal still ringing in her ears - but the briefest few moments of exploration had yielded the fact that she was neither in Arkham nor at home, even though the room she'd left behind was almost exactly as she'd left it in the house she shared with Harley and Selina. 'Almost' because her chemistry equipment and her less benign plants had vanished.

Worse than that, the Green was silent to her. Even those shrubs and flowers she had left responded only weakly to her touch but she knew instinctively that that sluggishness wasn't them: it was her.

She found the communicator in her room shortly afterwards and paged through the archives, availing herself of the confusion of others to learn where she was. The Barge: a ship that existed in the gaps between worlds, for the express purpose of redemption.

It was the most outlandish of her prisons so far, but not by too much.

She went to the deck, with some caution - her skin calmed to its old hue, a coat covering her favourite outfit. Another indignity. There was light - she could even feel the suppressed chlorophyll in her skin responding, her whole body flooding with renewed energy - but she couldn't see even an alien sun or feel its warmth: only the blurred, cold light of distant stars. Infuriating.

This was wrong. Perverse - unbearable. She saw the figure on the other side of the deck and moved in its direction, making sure her footsteps were loud enough to be heard, without having the barest trace of a plan. She just needed to know that this was not all there was to this place. There had to be more.

Jim turned slightly at the sound of footsteps, smiling at the woman like he would smile at a girl in a bar. Because she was pretty and he was James Kirk and being a flirt was sort of an integral part of his personality.

"Hi," he said, turning more to face her. "I'm going to throw a guess out there and say that you're new."

That smile. She hated him on sight. It would have given her an intense, vivid satisfaction to wrap him up in vines and toss him overboard into whatever void awaited below - but it wouldn't help. That particular want had to bubble under, for now. Better to know first if he was a resource or an annoyance.

Her toxins could be kept in check just as easily as the natural tone of her skin. She held out a hand, offered a smile that was just on the interested side of courteous.

"You'd be right. Paula Irving. The Admiral's latest hire, I should think."

If Kirk noticed how icy she was being, he didn't make any indication of it. Though he really would still be acting the same if she responded warmly too. "Jim Kirk," he answered, taking her hand and shaking it lightly. "Where do you hail from?"

"Gotham City," she said, and watched carefully for a response. The network had brought Edward Nygma's presence to her attention, making her sharply aware that whatever her first move was, it had to happen before she was recognised.

"You know anyone named Dick Grayson?" he asked, letting go of her hand. "He's around here somewhere. Pretty sure he said he was from there too."

she isn't green yet but pfft I only have two icons otherwise so far chlorophylliac November 14 2011, 23:05:31 UTC
All she really knew about Dick Grayson was that he was Bruce Wayne's ward, and even that was a vague recollection; it'd been a while since she'd had any reason to read the society pages.

Still, though. Strange. Bruce himself had surprised her with hidden capacities in the past, an intelligence and wisdom he didn't much expose in his public life, but what would bring Grayson to a place like this?

She began to exude pheromones, slowly lowering his inhibitions, planting seeds in Kirk's mind. Not control, not yet, simply suggestion.

"Do you know him well?"

"Yeah, we're pretty good friends," Jim answered, his grin widening in her direction. "Have you been here long? Because I give a killer tour."

"An hour or so." More like twelve. "Actually, I was curious. Your little greenhouse is all well and good, but...I admit I was hoping for something on a larger scale. I've something of a green thumb."

Please. Even if it was just a hydroponics lab, she'd take it. Please.

"There's this thing we call the CES? It's pretty big. And not at all like a greenhouse. It's like an actual forest."

The way her face lit up was - almost genuine.

"Show me."

She didn't have to ask any more. Her pheromone output was making it almost impossible for him to say no.

Honestly, if Jim hadn't been pheromoned... he probably would've shown her anyway. And the demand wouldn't have phased him.

In any case, Jim offered her his arm and said, "Follow me."

She stared at his arm like it was something diseased.

"I'll follow you. Go."

Jim dropped his arm without a comment and turned on his heel to head towards the CES. It seemed like the right thing to do. It would make her happy. When they got to the entrance, he held his item to the door.

"After you."

So he was a Warden. Good - unfortunate for whoever his Inmate was, but good. Useful.

Ivy stepped past him into the CES and yes - this was so much closer to perfect than she had hoped. The green was dense and rich, the sun warm and bright. Compared to the sterile atmosphere of the rest of the ship it was a panacea; she felt calmer, centred. She shrugged off her coat and let her body's chemistry do what it would, her skin regaining its green shade.

Not yet aware that he would start to shrug off her influence after only a minute, she stopped the steady output of pheromones.

"Follow me," she said, moving deeper into the CES. "Who else has come here from Gotham?"

"Tim Drake is here too," Jim answered, sounding a little dazed as he walked behind her through the CES. "Bruce Wayne was here, but he left. There are some others... I know they know them but I'm not sure where from."

He stopped suddenly, looking around and blinking heavily, like he had no idea how he'd gotten to where he was. "Are you... green now?"
