Hoffman was in a good mood. Rare, given the circumstances and the situation. He was also thinking about a drink, but the boy who he'd suggested dining to was a teenager and he didn't drink with teenagers.

Banishing alcohol from his thoughts, he rubbed at his hand and scratched the back of his neck with his good hand. He stuck his hands in his pockets and walked into the dining hall.

"Fridge is toward the back." A lot of people would say that Hoffman still ate like a teenager. He'd gotten better-lost some weight but being laid up had put a few pounds back on, "...I could grab you some chips and coffee if you'd like"

Jaime glanced over his shoulder at him with a grin. "Thanks. Industrial kitchen... not really set up like the one in my parents' house. Coffee and chips would be great, thanks. Is there anything you want from the fridge?" He headed back there, listening for the answer. Maybe there was cake, or something like that. Khaji Da had been pretty good about not harassing him for sweet stuff, and Jaime wanted to encourage the restraint.

[Cookies. Back top shelf; .75 yards from left.]

Jaime laughed quietly. "What, do you have cookie-dar or something?" he muttered.

[Jaime Reyes' lack of cookie-dar is disappointing. Khaji Da was required to develop in order to compensate for human shortcomings.]

"...Right."

[OOC Note: The [italics] are Khaji Da, who speaks in Jaime's head. Hoffman won't be able to hear them, but he'll be able to hear Jaime respond.]

"It's not cookie-dar. It's me working here." Hoffman said, "It's-" he stopped, "...Okay."

Huh. Odd kid was odd. Hoffman turned away and grabbed a bag of potato chips, "...Your mom's food is probably a million times better."

Jaime came out a few moments later with a cold leftover burger and the cookies. "Well, she's my mom. I'm probably biased. You work here?"
