He doubted he'd get away with that now. Not here in Paris, pretending he was going to bond with Snape of all people. He arrived at the designated meeting spot in his muggle clothing, his wand hidden away.

After six months in the Muggle world with Martha, and time before that in various ports like this one - and two decades as a spy - he had gotten the knack of dressing like a Muggle. Trousers, shirt, wool topcoat - all black, of course; while he somehow still managed to billow a bit, he otherwise looked quite average. Forgettable. Blending in wasn't a problem for him. He wondered how his cohorts were fairing - Lupin might have no problems, but Bellatrix and Lucius would probably stick out like sore thumbs.
At least Sirius had followed directions, he noted grimly. He approached the other man with resignation, knowing he was probably in rare form today. Halloween was closing in fast.

"He suggested I take you to a racecourse. However, I have had more than my fill of brushes with vehicular manslaughter. Barring that, I believe I have a better idea." He motioned for Black to follow him, an indication that he intended to explain why he was an hour late. "Come along."

He grit his teeth and followed Snape, feeling much like a dog being bid to follow its master. Well, he supposed he was a dog, and whilst Snape would never be his master, the sooner he followed, the sooner their perfunctory time together could end.

"Her magic. Her threats to my wife." He remained calm as he spoke, feeling rather generous in his willingness to explain the situation to Sirius. "She has said she has no intention of lashing out, but as you can imagine, I could likely throw her farther than I believe her. Martha, however, insists we leave off protecting her at the month's end."

He snorted, then added, "Unforgivables are not the most dangerous spells my lot can perform."
He veered off the footpath and into the car park, glancing back only slightly to ensure his inmate hadn't decided to make a break for it.

In front of him was a large motorbike - a newer model, perhaps, but quite similar in appearance to the one Sirius had once owned.
"It's yours for three days." He held out the key to his inmate, looking more embarrassed and uncomfortable than expectant of gratitude.

If he thought too much about it, he would hex himself.

The thanks unnerved him. It sounded almost genuine. A part of him didn't want to look Sirius in the eye to find out, as though he was desperately clinging to his own hatred.
The other part of him - the part that had been battered enough by the Barge to realize he was too old to be carrying on schoolyard grudges - mumbled almost inaudibly, "You're welcome."

His smile faded, but only for a split second. He started the engine and the bike roared to life. "I'll stay out of trouble," he shouted over the noise.
