Who: Tonks and whoever feels like joining!
Where: Dining Hall, with the Christmas tree
When: December 23rd, all day
Tonks stared up at the giant evergreen, not in the least bit intimidated by its size. A few dozen ornaments were already hung upon its branches, in addition to the lights and garland, but there were at least another dozen boxes of several ornaments each to be hung as well as a whole bucket of tinsel. It seemed odd that, given all the letters to Santa she had read, no one had really bothered to throw together a group of Christmas cheer. Although she'd be the first to admit that she was the sort to give a bit of crap to anyone that might have suggested it. Well, back at home at least. In this place people might take things the wrong way. Never know.
The girl flicked the ball of her santa hat out of her face. It wasn't something she normally did, but it seemed to be tradition here and she was all for whatever could be fun and make friends. She had even morphed her hair into a not-so-natural shade of red and put on the baggy green sweater she had found in her room. The dining hall was rather warm, but it was all about the spirit of things!
Pulling her wand out from the side of her waist, she paused as she held it out in front of her. Using a wand might be too fast. And what if others wanted to help? On the other hand, what if no one else came? She shrugged and tucked the wand back against her hip for now. It could be used for tinsel later. Instead, she started throwing open all sorts of boxes, spreading things out to ensure as great a selection as possible. It was beginning to look a bit like a disaster zone in the area around the tree with bits of tinsel and a few ornaments scattered amongst lids, empty boxes, and various bits of cardboard and paper that had been used for protective stuffing. And finally, she was ready.
Glancing around again, as if someone may walk in at any moment, Tonks very slowly grabbed the first ornament from the box. Each step toward the tree was exaggerated and posed with constant looking around until, at last, the ornament was on the branch and no one had entered. Unfazed, Tonks began again with the second ornament. It would be more fun if when other people showed up, she hoped.
