[Mozenrath happens to catch Snape on their floor, as he rounds the corner from the stairwell. He assumes it's Snape, anyway, and not another person-turned-cat that just happens to look exactly like the one he became. Since he's approaching from behind he decides on a little mischief and crouches low, reading his hind legs to spring.]

[Snape doesn't notice Mozenrath. He's quite bad at this distinguishing-smells thing, and carries on his way, completely unsuspecting of his inmate.]

[Mozenrath starts out at a spring, the lightning-quick patter of his tiny feet not apparent until it's almost too late, when he pounces.]

[And he's hit from behind by projectile feline. Severus slides several feet into a wall, hissing and spitting the whole while, all of his protests culminating in an outraged yowl.

Mozenrath!]

Have you lost your mind?!

[Mozenrath looks down at him, his eyes giving off the impression of a smile]

You could have heard me coming.

[He backs off of him and cleans the back of one of his paws -- the only one of the four that wasn't black.]

[He stares at his inmate with something bordering between exasperation and contempt.]

You're not a cat. You can't -

[He flounders.]

Can't -

[If a cat could manage to look helplessly at a loss for words, it would look like Snape.]

Can't what? [he rolls onto his back. The floor out here is really smooth and cool, so it feels nice] I'm enjoying myself. Why aren't you?

[emptyyourself]

That. What -

[His frustration is apparent in his tone.]

I don't want to be a cat.

[mightymorbid]

[Mozenrath watches him. Upside down.] It's a flood. So what are you going to do about it?

[emptyyourself]

I -

[Pause. He hasn't been able to do anything thus far.]

Nothing.

[Severus drops to the ground, resigned.]

Nothing at all.

[mightymorbid]

Have you tried to see if you can talk to other cats yet? [He pauses] Ones that are actually cats? I've wondered, myself.

[emptyyourself]

No. I'm locked out of my room until Martha returns.

[A pause on his end.]

She's the only one who can open the door now, aside from myself.

[mightymorbid]

And she hasn't thought to open it yet?

[emptyyourself]

She's working.

[mightymorbid]

Now you're just making excuses for her.
