Day one you_run_i_chase July 17 2011, 05:53:15 UTC
Parker was waiting at the door, and she was holding a bag that was filled with supplies. The Admiral had mentioned that they should be prepared, and after the island port and the stuff with the weird radioactive world, Parker was taking no chances. The bag was stuffed with rope, food, water and ammo, just in case.

There was a gun at her back and another in her bag and damn if Parker wasn't wearing high heeled boots with her suit. At least it was pants.

Denise, on the other hand, didn't own a gun. Instead, she was toting a crowbar--after returning home for the first time, she'd bought one as a sort of lighthearted reminder of the zombie port. Hell yeah she'd brought it with her upon coming back aboard. She also had food, water, first-aid supplies and a few other minor items in her pack, and she was wearing her hiking boots and outdoor clothing.

Walking to meet her former inmate, Denise took one look at what Parker was wearing before passing judgement.

"Christ, Parker. We're going to a jungle, not a business convention."

Atia no longer had much in the way of clothing variety. What little she did retain, the Roman aristocrat had resorted to using the communal showers to clean. Nobody's attempt to educate her on how to use washing machines and the like had yet been successful; her most important reason for not wanting to venture anywhere near things like modern cookers and microwaves, which her warden had tried to decree she be employed in using.

She was not, however, unarmed. One just wouldn't guess it unless they searched her.

Still, she was dressed lightly enough for the weather to likely be of no problem.

Didn't say anything, though. Already had reason to hold a severe grudge against Parker. Instead, she just showed up, as was demanded.

Denise's crow bar had made her smirk, and for a moment she couldn't say anything, and instead adjusted the sunglasses from her hair to her face. "I work out in these clothes, Denise, it's going to be fine." And it would be, really. She'd do well in them.

However, her brows rose when she saw her inmate, and the stony way that she looked at her caused her blood pressure to start to rise. Her head was already going to ache. Maybe this was a completely shit idea. For a moment she didn't say anything, and instead she slapped her hand against the door and headed out into it. "Once more into the wild fucking blue yonder."

Denise followed suit, waiting a moment or two so that she could trail behind Atia. Denise already didn't like her attitude; her body language spoke enough to make up for her (probably) purposeful silence. Sandwiching her between two women who would be only too happy to whup her ass if need be might be a good idea.

Bright sunlight and heat washed over her, and Denise shaded her eyes as she surveyed the landscape.

"There's gotta be some kind of catch," she declared, and re-adjusted her backpack. "No way it's gonna stay this nice."

Denise, being predisposed as a friend of Miss Parker, had automatically placed herself in the enemy category. Therefore, Atia would likely give her only begrudging respect - if any. Either that or would attempt to manipulate her, but there wasn't going to be much chance for that during this.

Even she, however, could tell that the relatively visitors' centre - futuristic-looking, from her perspective - was in a severe state of disuse. Vegetation was overgrowing it.

"What are these... Pictures of?" She asked, squinting at the commercial murals of dinosaurs which seemed to be everywhere. "I should hope we've not ended up in one of those fucking serpent cults..."

Parker nodded, agreeing with Denise's assessment of this. It had to be too nice. When she looked behind her and saw the door and vanished, she knew that they were going to be in for a fucking miserable four days.

"It's never this nice." She muttered, and then she hefted the bag onto her back before she looked to Atia. "What the fuck are you..."

But then Parker spotted the dinosaurs and grimaced. "Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me. Really? Fucking Jurassic Park."

Denise rolled her eyes. "God damnit. This is why the Admiral doesn't give us specifics--he knows none of us would ever go into these friggin' ports if we knew the shit we'd be going through."

She turned to Atia. "They're dinosaurs: crazy-big lizards that existed way before the first human being came along. I'm willing to bet they're alive again here, though. Call it a hunch."

In other words, she didn't have the patience to explain that she'd seen stuff like this in a movie.

"What's a Jurassic?"

Thankfully, Denise came through with enough of a layman's explanation for Atia to go slightly wide-eyed at the implications. 'Crazy-big' insinuated more than enough of something she did not want to be around.

Or at least, not unless she could have it enslaved and harnessed. Sounded like a lovely addition to parades.

"I have no intention of ending up as some overgrown reptile's lunch... Where are we expected to head?"

"You have got to be fucking kidding me." Parker groaned loudly, and she just looked around. Fucking dinosaurs. Four days and fucking dinosaurs. At least with zombies, they'd been easy: heads off. With dinosaurs she was pretty sure her gun wouldn't do a god damn thin to a T-Rex.

"Shit." She looked to the path in front of them and frowned. "We get to where ever it is that the bastard wants us to be. He said four days." She was going to punch him in his head so hard his brain hurt.

"He'll have some kind of place where he wants us to be picked up, like in Salem. Knowing him, it's going to be the worst place where we can go and surrounded by fucking raptors."

Looking to her inmate, Parker scowled. "Listen, no matter how cute these things look..." Right, who was she talking about again? "Look don't trust them, and don't touch anything."

"Wonder if this baby can take out a raptor at full sprint," Denise mused, hefting her crowbar. All signs pointed to FUCK NO, but what fun was that?

"Some of 'em eat plants, and some will probably try to eat us if they get the chance," she continued to explain to Atia. "You're seriously not gonna be able to tell which is which until they bite down, so don't try anything stupid. Even the plant eaters can gore you or stomp you flat if you try to ride 'em."

And she wouldn't put that past her, what with that entitled bearing.

Parker's gun might be of more use than suspected. It all depended on whether it was powerful enough to punch through any would-be predator's skull or ribs. The blonde's weapon? Well, it was certainly better than nothing.

And better than what Atia had secreted on her person.

"I would not care to, unless the beast is harnessed," came her response. Although, some would argue that it was perhaps her logic of dealing with other human beings, too. And if the three of them were ever at a severe disadvantage, Atia would have no qualms about sacrificing them to save her life. "Then I suggest we start moving, soon as possible. The less time we give these things to find us, the better."

A part of her was tempted to raise the possibility of simply going inside the the facility and waiting things out, like a small fortress. But without any guarantee of rescue, food or drinking water... Not an enviable situation.

Parker laughed. Denise was Denise in any situation, and after seeing the video of the zombies, she was willing to believe that shit. However, she was wishing that she'd bought her damn sword instead. At least something pointy might do some good.

The comment about riding dinosaurs made Parker's hand move to the back of her neck. She needed a damn drink and they hadn't even started yet. However, she couldn't deny that she was right.

"Let's get going. Nice and easy."

"Easy. Right," Denise snorted, and nodded at Parker. "Ladies first."

Because Denise sure as hell wasn't one. She still fully intended to keep Atia sandwiched between the two of them, just in case, but thought it might be a bad idea to let Atia know it. The last thing she needed was someone else's inmate pulling a bitchfit.

She kept pace after the other two, paying careful attention to any noises in the air around them.

The wilderness was probably more familiar to Atia than the ship was. Still, it was a tropical island. Hardly Mediterranean farmland. That, in concert with the talk about what was alluded to living around them, making her mutter something about Egyptian 'witch-whores' and their crocodiles...

She had never got on with Cleopatra.

"I trust one of you remembered to bring some description of food, yes?"

Atia hoped so. She had never hunted before and, much like most other manual skills, would probably be rubbish at it.

"Yeah, cause I'm a real fucking lady." Scoffing, she did take the lead, keeping her hands free and her eyes alert as they started to head into a jungle full of fucking dinosaurs.

Sometimes she wondered if things were worth this. Most of the time the answer was no. Like now. Her inmate's mutterings made her jaw clench so tightly she thought it would break, and all she could offer was a curt nod.

"Yes, Atia, I brought fucking food and water. I should have enough for four days if we're careful and go easy on it." Hopefully. God fucking knew with dinosaurs around.
