7:50- Martha arrives thegooddrjones June 28 2011, 23:12:33 UTC
The last twenty-four hours had been a bit of a roller coaster for Martha, and it was one she wasn't even over yet. She didn't know about Sarah's degree that everything be alcoholic, so she bought a tin of biscuits and a bag of onion cheddar crisps with her. She would have made the effort to bake, but it simply wasn't in the cards for her at the moment.

When she walked into the pub doors, it was with a tentative smile, and she held her items in front of her like a shield. Howie's words were having a lingering effect on her, and she was worried that Sveta and Una were really livid with her, and that's why she hadn't heard from either of them.

Right now, she just wanted to celebrate, and to have people be happy for her and them.

Sveta hadn't planned on staying long. She wanted to see Martha, convince her that she wasn't upset, have a few drinks, and then leave. She had already made up her mind that she wasn't going to stay long, as she had things to do that evening that didn't involve being drunk.

When she saw Martha arrive, she waited a bit before gathering her courage and walking over, drink in hand. "Hey! You look good," she said with a smile.

Martha set down the crisps and biscuits on the bar and smiled to Sveta, watching her face as she did so. Howie had laid out a pretty bleak picture, one that had been reenforced by the way things had been the last time she'd seen her friend.

Martha'd actually dressed up for this, going through a bit of trouble so that people didn't see the late night she'd had on her. "Thanks! You look good too. I'm glad you decided to come."

She... hadn't thought Sveta would, really.

She shrugged slightly at that statement. "Of course I would be here." She wasn't going to make any mention of what had happened between them. Her bravery was faltering a bit and she just didn't want to cause a scene.

"Are you sure you're ready for all this?" She waved a hand at the party.

Martha shrugged a bit, because she didn't really feel at all ready for the party, but she didn't want to hurt Sarah's feelings or anyone else's. If things hadn't gone as they had, Martha wouldn't have come at all.

"It seems like people needed a party. Like I do, I guess." Martha took a step towards her friend, and she hugged her quickly. "I love you, you know, and would never intentionally hurt you."

Sveta stiffened slightly with the embrace, but only because she hadn't been expecting it. She returned it quickly and then stepped back, taking a drink. "I know, Martha." She shook her head.

"I don't want to talk about it anymore, okay?" She put a hand on Martha's arm. "You need to go and enjoy your party."

When she stiffened in the embrace, Martha did as well, and there was stiffness in the way that she pulled back. Well, it certainly seemed like Howie was right.

"Okay. You enjoy it as well, yeah?"

"Of course!" She took another drink and tried to be cheery. She had made a hard choice today and it was weighing on her mind already.

"I'll see you in a while." Holding up her empty glass as an excuse, she headed off.

"Okay." Martha blinked and frowned when Sveta hurried off, and then she turned away and looked around again.

Una waited for Martha to finish her conversation with Sveta, and then went over to give her a hug.

"Congratulations, darling," she said with a smile. "I'm sorry I didn't say anything earlier-too much going on. But I really am happy for you both."

Martha was really pleased to see that Una wasn't angry, and she returned the hug fiercely. "Thanks, Una. I'm sorry I didn't tell you before."

Una shrugged, waving it off. "Don't mention it. It's all right. The important part is that you are due a proper celebration and we shall all oblige you with one tonight."

That made Martha laugh, and she looked around at the drunk people about them. "I think there's going to be quite a few sore heads in the morning."

"It's just one morning. Come on, let me get you something. And at some point I think Sarah's going to insist that I give you a song or two."

Martha laughed at that. One morning was going to seem like a very, very long one with the amount of alcohol that people were going to be imbibing. She wasn't even sure that she wanted to get that drunk, but she knew that she couldn't not. "Alright, but let's start with something small, yeah? Space it out?" However, she grinned about the singing. "That's brilliant!"

"Martha!" Molly shouted, racing toward her happily. She was already wearing a party hat, tilted to one side, and she'd dyed her hair vivid pink and lime green in celebration. She was definitely not one of the ones that had a problem with Martha's relationship with Snape. She liked them both, and was happy for them--they were good for each other. Congratulatory hugs were definitely in order.

And then drinking. She had high hopes that she might talk Martha into hair color again.
