Next Wanda walked out of the gym, took a deep breath, spun around with her eyes closed, and walked in the direction closest to where she was facing when she stopped and opened her eyes.

The walking meditation was an idea she had come up with back home. Basically she let chaos and intuition guide her, trying to leave her talking mind out of it as much as possible. Where she ended up was sometimes interesting, sometimes boring, but usually she learned something from it. She walked at a moderate pace, watching out for people and obstacles, but seeming a little tranced out.

Wanda moved down the hall, trying to figure out what this leg of the journey had to teach her. The meditating redhead was a real surprise, and a moment of real resonance for her. "Aha," she said queitly to herself. "That's what I'm here for."

She knew enough not to disturb him, but instead waited a little ways away, watching the mudra-like movements of his hands. Her fingers started to imitate the movements a little tentatively; she chewed her lip thoughtfully.

"Hi! Um...well..." how to explain this? Just out with it, she decided, even if it sounded a little dorky. "I've been doing a kind of walking meditation. Just walking places and seeing what I can learn when I get where I'm going. Sometimes it's little stuff, like meeting the shark. Sometimes it's getting a demo of a new meditation technique, or meeting a new person, or in your case, both." She shrugged and offered a hand. "Wanda. I'm here not even a month."

Wanda shakes. Her hand is long and narrow, with spindly fingers, her grip a little weak. "First you start out by getting any stuff that can be moved to the beginning of the day out of the way. Like gym for me. Then you walk out, spin around with your eyes closed, and start heading in the nearest logical direction to the way you face.

"The idea is to walk until you find something, but sometimes I move around at intervals, say fifteen minutes at a stretch, and stuff comes to me. This is my first one on the Barge, and I'm waiting to see what I'll see."

"Yeah? You'd make a good Discordian. You ever read any Richard Bach or Robert Anton Wilson?" She leaned against the wall across from him.

"I like the garden for that."

"That sounds really rough. I um..." she trailed off, but decided not to ask. She wasn't really one to get into people's business.

"I think you might want to try Jonathan Livingston Seagull. It is short, so it won't take up much time, and full of awesome."

She nodded. "I sit under the rose arbor sometimes."

"Title." She flops into a semigraceful pile across from him. "The author's name is Richard Bach. It's a very...quietly thought provoking sort of book. It's about a seagull who seeks enlightenment through the mastery of flight."

"Well, basically there's a point at which he starts to make these breakthroughs that shouldn't even be possible, but he's still trying. Then he sort of does the Bodhisattva thing and takes a student."

She shrugged back. "I'm not a master of anything either. But one day I will be!"
