Despite making a show of drinking, Arthur didn't let it get too far. He was still in control-- a little looser, maybe, but he could go a few more rounds before he was drunk. He hadn't seen his partners yet, but he was sure they'd made their way to the settlement already. Must've been scoping out other locations, talking up the people who were too good and Christian to partake of the goods The Green Haus had to offer.
He exaggerated his swagger as he made his way to the inn, giving the keeper a nod as he headed up the stairs. When he was out of sight, he dropped the act, picking up his normal, sober gait. Just a little further now.
Arthur paused at his door. Something was definitely off.
Actually, the fact that it was unlocked was a pretty big clue. He grabbed his gun and pushed the door open cautiously, moving back away from the doorway so as to avoid any sudden hail of bullets. After a beat, he peeked in and grinned, entering the room with his aim on Sherry, casually kicking the door shut behind him.
"Hey, girl. I always knew I'd get you in my bed again." Whether or not they ever did anything didn't matter; he just liked being suggestive.
The moment she'd heard his feet on the stairs she had the gun lifted, and the moment he peeked round the edge she had a steady bead on him. Of course, he clearly cared as much about that as she did about him doing the same in kind.
"You'd say that to all the girls, if you stuck around any long enough. Makes me feel all kinds of special."

"That's because you are special, Sherry." Playful tone aside, he meant it in a way. They all came up together as kids, and he'd do his best to look out for her and Junior. He holstered his gun and shrugged his coat off, tossing it onto a nearby chair before he sat down on the bed. "Find any prospects? This whole town's full of people who couldn't tell a skunk from a house cat."
Sherry set her own gun down and sat up. "I heard there's a guy, Raymond, who's got money and nobody exactly knows why. Apparently he's pretty friendly with the banker. Might be good for something." She produced a cigarette case from where it was secreted somewhere about her person and flipped it open, offering it to Arthur. "And Byron Reaver's in town, as you can't fail to have noticed."
Arthur took a cigarette with a mumbled thanks and let it dangle in his lips as he fished out his matchbook. Being a fine gentleman, he'd light her cigarette first. "Cocksucker knows how to make an entrance," he remarked idly. "Looks like he brought some mean looking fellas with him, too." He didn't know how shady Reaver could get, and to be honest, he didn't care, so long as the man didn't interfere with their cons. "I met that Raymond. Talked up gold prospecting to him, but I don't know if it took." If it did, he could see about working up a scam to get Raymond to "invest." "Didn't talk to him long, but I get the impression he's a man who likes to flex his muscle, given the chance. Could be dangerous..." He took in a slow inhalation of tobacco. "Could be a big payoff."
She took her lit cigarette to her lips and drew in thoughtfully. Like 'dangerous' was ever much of a concern to any of them - but Reaver was probably too big a mark. Definitely moved around too much, and probably had the Mayor and maybe the Sherriff in his pocket by now, from what she'd gathered about the way he operated. Still, they'd probably be set for a month or two even if she managed to pick his pocket.
"Did he take to you? Might be useful if he did, and if he didn't, we can use that."
