He couldn't properly rage in the infirmary where there were near-strangers wandering in and out. There he had to keep up appearances. But now that he was back home...
Usually, he'd rant to vent his latest fury, every muscle would tense and his voice would become tighter and higher pitched with each sentence, and once he was done he'd feel settled down, calmer and ready to work. With that outlet taken away from him by Ardent, all he could do was grind his teeth until his jaw hurt and pick up the nearest object--a teapot (metal, thankfully)--and hurl it across the room. The clang was only marginally satisfying. He prowled around the room in a tight circle, once and then a second time, and then attached himself to Kay's side, clinging to the sleeve of his black coat and crumpling it in his harsh grip.
