"Hey." K was probably not so keen on the shadow some distance away, but Peylix was about his age and picking up on his anxiousness. His language was sounding like English, more due to his projection of his meaning than mastery of the language. "We're in something of a mess."

Little Slim hadn't been trained on intrusive psychic phenomena yet, so he didn't realize it was being translated. He raised his brows at Peylix, wondering what country he was from. He wasn't dressed like most of the British he'd seen on television.

"Yeah, we are." He went over to Peylix, giving him a curious look. "Do you know where this is?"

"It's a ship, but I don't know where, I'm sorry. Where are you from?"

"The United States." Because, if he was going to be a representative of his country, he'd best claim the whole thing. Not just a state or two.

Well, that's very nonspecific. "Which states are united?" He pauses. "I'm from Gallifrey."

"The United States of America... There's a country called Gallifrey?" He'd never heard of that one in Geography class, and he made good grades.

That was definitely more specific, though 'America' mean little. "It's not a country, it's a planet."

That seemed to hold the kid up. His brow tensed up and even for the slightest response it was hard to stumble of the disbelief (and the want to believe).

What. "Excuse me?" Then a bit more boggling. Because Peylix looked human, if not precisely local. "I'm from Earth?" If this was a game... this was a weird one. Or possibly he'd stumbled into some right strange toadstools while he was out playing earlier.

"Gallifrey. It's… well, you don't want to go there." Peylix really didn't wish violence and slavery on the boy. "And on Earth, America's states are united?"

"Yes?" Still inquisitive, because now he didn't really know how to approach what might be an insane child or a close encounter or a hallucination. So he decided to man up and do it like his father would. Very, very seriously.

"Mind if I ask how we're different and how I'm able to understand you? Because conventional belief has it that two races wouldn't evolve very much alike if it were on a different planet." Today was quite possibly the strangest day of his young life, and what the heck was that itchy feeling inside his brain.

"You're able to understand me because I'm projecting my thoughts, rather than speaking. I don't know about the physiology, I've never really met your species before. None I've met really look like mine."

"That's..." He wondered about the itch in his head. Was Peylix doing that? ...No, it was somewhere else. He needed to go find where it was coming from eventually.

"Well, you're a step ahead of me 'cause you're the only alien I've ever met. But you got ten fingers and two eyes and hair and... why am I hearing you with a British accent then?" Psychic stuff was weird. "Can I listen to you talk normally?"

Peylix had no clue what 'British' even meant, let alone how their accent sounded. Though he complied. "Sure, but you wouldn't understand me."

"Yeah, but if how you're different is on the inside, it's a pretty easy way to tell." And he really didn't want to go investigating another kid to see if his stomach was in the same place. Because if it was just some strange other human? Well that would just be awkward.

He's speaking in his language now. "I could make up the language."
