[Creepering around, constantly finding interesting things. The fact is, Elric's a scholar at heart, and he's endlessly fascinated by the things he learns about other worlds and eras. Right now he's absorbed in a book on internal combustion engines, and stands leaning against the shelf, lost in the text.]

Ardent has been needing to get out of his room of late, because he'd spent a day or so trying to recover after floods, and the darkness was starting to get to him. So he was in the library, working, and saw... a man who looked a little too much like Arthas for his liking, "Are you... I don't think we've met before, have we?"

Elric looks up from his book and blinks a little with the slightly confused look of someone who's been so absorbed in a book that he's forgotten the world outside. Then he bows slightly in greeting. "I am not sure that we have met formally, but I have seen you here, of course," he says. "I am Elric of Melniboné."

Ardent nodded his head in return, "And I have the same of you, actually. I am Ardent, and I... I believe we have spoken." He was still a little put out at how much he looked like Arthas, but it wasn't like this was a new phenomenon on the Barge, if Ardent was completely honest.

"Ah, the follower of Tak," Elric replied, smiling a little in recognition. "It is good to meet you in person, sir."

He was, of course, completely unfazed by Ardent's appearance and stature. They had all kinds in the Young Kingdoms, after all.

"And you, sir." He gave a slight smile from under his hood, and looked up at the other man, "What are you reading that so captured your interest, may I ask?"

"Engines," Elric replied, holding the book out for Ardent's perusal, if he's interested. "I cannot claim to understand much of it, but 'tis fascinating and strange, what is done in this era of humankind."

Ardent makes a slight point of looking, but doesn't really pay too much attention, "They seem like complex Devices, if you ask me. Impressive, none the less. Is this all you've been reading on?"

"Not at all. I have been making my way at random through this place." A grandiose gesture encompassing the library. "I have picked up fragments of history, the odd bit of culture. It would take a lifetime and more to absorb it all."

Ardent nods, understanding that desire, "As long as you are aware that they are representative of more than one history, and more than one world or culture."

"Of course, just as the population of the ship itself includes a multitude of beings. I should expect no less." He actually looks a little pleased. "At least I shall have some manner of diversion until my inmate is assigned to me."

Ardent paused, and wondered about whether he should ask the question on his mind. If he was from a world like Arthas', then it was worth knowing, "If you can speak Dwarfish, by the way, there's a decent collection of our history here. If you were interested."

He shook his head. "I am familiar with many languages, but Dwarfish is not one of them. Is it very difficult to learn for an outsider?"

Ardent shrugged a little, as he wasn't really interested in the whole Barge knowing Dwarfish, "Unless you have a particular natural proficiency for language, I imagine it is."

"I have some skill in it. It is a necessity for the sorceror, after all. Perhaps I shall endeavour to pick it up-with your leave, of course."

"Oh, you're a wizard..." He nodded, as everything made a little more sense now, "I can hardly object to people expressing an interest in my language, can I?"

Even though he wanted to.
