Costigan's arm hung around the warden's shoulders and he leaned heavily into the man. Things like this were just what you did when you were as fucked up as he was because it was the only way to reasonably get around. The inmate had insisted on going to Donny's room instead of the infirmary to get patched up partially to avoid painkillers, though he hadn't told Donny that, and partially because he didn't want them asking questions about the scars he'd gotten from his detoxing near-suicide. All things considered, he was just bruised a little, bleeding from all over, and his neck felt a little like it would never be able to catch a full breath again; none of these were things that would kill him ( ... )

It had been fucking brutal. Donny was used to brutal scenes, what with the war and having been involved up to his neck in most of them, but coming across one in the middle of the Barge had been a little unsettling. He was glad he got there when he did, because Costigan really didn't look so good and Donny knew he wasn't the kind of guy to stop just because he got strangled.

They walked along in silence, Donny wondering what the fuck happened but keeping those thoughts to himself, thank-you-very-much. At least for the time being anyway. Donny was just hoping there had been a damn good reason for the fight, and not just because Costigan had a deathwish or Armand wanted a snack.

Donny glanced over towards Costigan when he spoke, looking at his feet to make sure they were still keeping a steady pace. Not too much further before they'd be at his cabin, and Donny hoped that Costigan would at least let him get his warden. "No problem. You look like hell."

The silence was appreciated. If nothing else, he was grateful that Donny was the type to respect that sometimes, one just needed to not talk. The idea of explaining that he needed to punch Armand, a vampire with a bad attitude, for violating Rex, one of his better friends on the boat, over a year ago? He knew it wasn't the strongest argument.. and that was assuming he would even be willing to involve Rex in this at all; it seemed easier to lie and take the blame himself.

At his friend's reply, Costigan gave a small chuckle. Despite all the blood and the searing pain that spread through his throat at the use of his voicebox. "Thanks."

Dick had been in the CES when it happened, going through more escrima drills with Steph. She was improving, definitely getting to the point where he could let her graduate to real sticks, but any training had to be cut off when suddenly, out of no where, his item had started responding. It was only for a few seconds, but Dick wasn't an idiot. He knew how this worked. If something had happened to activate it, Costigan was in trouble and needed help ( ... )

Donny had replied to Costigan's thanks with a silent nod. He didn't think anything more needed to be said. Costigan had saved his ass time and time again on the Barge - sometimes not on the Barge too, like that fight in Germany, and he'd do his best to do the same for him. It a never-ending cycle of pulling the other out of bad situation. And if they did talk about what happened at all, it was usually much, much later, and after they'd downed a couple of beers together.

Donny was glad to see Costigan's warden. He liked the guy - trusted him well enough too, and was happy that his friend had finally been paired with someone competent. "I found Costigan and Armand the vampiyah brawling in a common room," Donny answered, figuring Costigan wouldn't mind if he spoke for him. At least for now anyway. "Armand backed off when I showed up ( ... )

Costigan quietly continued with Donny until he caught sight of Donny quickly coming toward them. In a low and quiet voice, he whispered to his friend before Dick arrived. "Fuck. Did you call him ( ... )

The brief explanation was good enough for now for the vigilante, since let's face it, he definitely understood wanting to keep things quiet until you were in a more private setting, and on top of that, he wanted to get the inmate some medical attention before trying to get a better explanation. It wasn't like Costigan was going to be going anywhere for a while, as far as he was concerned. So, he nodded to acknowledge that he understood and refocused on getting Costigan safely back to his cabin ( ... )

Donny had tried to shake his head when Costigan asked if he had called for the guy's warden. As far as he could tell, Costigan must have been close to death or something during that fight, which probably made Dick's warden item go bananas. In any case, he was glad Dick had showed up, as it made things a lot less awkward in the long run. Plus Donny made a pretty fucking terrible medic.

He shifted his weight a little once Dick had taken his place on the other side of Costigan, nodding his head in acknowledgement for the thanks. He knew the tone well enough - though if Dick had wanted him to buzz off, Donny probably would have insisted on helping anyway. His cabin was right next door; it'd just be weird to keep walking in that direction anyway while Dick lugged Costigan up to his room.

"'salright."

And that was all he figured needed saying. He had been happy to help.

Costigan apparently had no say in what was happening to him as his arm went around Dick and he was partially dragged and partially walked back toward Grayson's cabin. He supposed he would have agreed to all of it anyway, but he hated the feeling of not having a choice. Of course, he was over it a few moments later and focused instead on the pain in his torso, the blood all over his face and body, and the cabin that was both nearby and too far away.

[Timeskip to cabin?]

I just like making fun of Dick :x batmanschmatman February 26 2011, 23:01:29 UTC
Dick carefully let go of Costigan so he could open the door, pushing it open so the other two could follow him in as he shrugged off the escrima stick harness, tossing it on his bed before heading straight for the bathroom.

"Get him on the couch, I'll get the first aid kit."

While this was definitely far less urgent then the last time he'd had to stitch the inmate up, there were still a decent amount of wounds to be treated and he still hadn't really slipped out of business mode. He had a job he had to do, and he was going to do it. Questions and further elaboration could come later.

"Right, couch," Donny replied with nod, falling back a little into army-mode. He casually shoved the door closed with his foot and went in search of said couch, grateful that Dick was nice and focused. He liked when people were efficient and didn't drag their feet about things.

"Once I get to you to the couch, I'm probably gonna take off. I don't think you guys'll need me."

Costigan just went along with it all still, following along with Donny when Dick moved ahead to grab the kit. He guided his friend over toward the couch, slowly falling to sit in the center; it was too familiar. He gave Donny a nod as he was finally situated, lifting a hand to his friend's shoulder for a second before the man straightened. He spoke quietly, in a way that was meant to be between the two of them. "I owe you, guy."

Dick returned with the first aid kit and sat down next to the inmate, putting the kit down on the coffee table and snapping it open, heading straight for the disinfectant and bandages. Most of the visible injuries looked relatively superficial, but he wouldn't be shocked if at least one required a couple stitches.

Not looking up from the supplies, still focused on the job at hand, he said to Costigan "Take your shirt off."

But before he started actually getting to work, he looked back up at the other warden. "Thanks Donny. Seriously."

In the end, Donny didn't really care why Costigan and Armand had been fighting. He didn't care whether Costigan had started it or not, or what the reasons behind the brawl were - again, if there had been any at all, and he especially didn't care if Armand had gotten hurt in the fray. He had Costigan's back and he always would, even if his friend was doing something really stupid. He gave Costigan a nod, though it was as serious as it was sincere. "Just take it easy ( ... )

Costigan gave one last nod to Donny as his friend left, but then returned his attention to Dick. He smiled and gave a small laugh, despite how much it pained his throat. "What are you, a fuckin' queeh oah somethin'?"

But he was doing as Dick asked and reaching gingerly to slide his t-shirt off of his torso. His wounds were mostly shallow and looked worse than they were, primarily because of quantity rather than quality. His throat hurt more than anything else, but the blood on his face and all over his arms and chest did concern him. The inmate was fatigued from the pain and he was tired from being so filled with hate for the first time in ages.

He tossed his shirt aside, medallion still around his neck, and leaned back against the back of the couch in order to give Dick free reign of his injuries.

Dick laughed quietly as the other warden left. "Sure thing Donny." He meant it too. Between being a friend of Costigan's and a good guy in general, Donny was definitely the first person he'd get in touch with if something happened. He actually sort of wished he'd known Donny better back when Costigan had been going through detox. Might have saved them from the whole issue of why did you call Tim when I was trying to get another pill if he'd just banged on the wall he and Donny shared and yelled for the other warden to get over here ( ... )
