Well, his first attempt at murder hadn't gone well, but that was hardly his fault, he'd picked on a Time Lord! There was no way he could have foreseen it being as complicated or as difficult as that had panned out being.

This time it'd be different. Prefect hugged the pillow against his chest as he waited for his next target to present itself. He'd be more careful this time, make absolutely sure that whoever he was going after was actually human, then he'd do the deed.

Then he'd take them down.

Prefect turned towards Aaron sharply, staring at him for a minute. He certainly... looked convincingly human. But who didn't look human on the Barge, even Arthas had looked human...

It didn't matter, regardless of his earlier failure, the voice inside his mind was screaming at him to take this one, don't be a coward, don't wait, don't hesitate, don't fail it again.

Prefect smiled, his expression snapping into the wide, massively practiced, utterly fake expression in a split second as he rounded on the stranger.

"Hello. I was just waiting for someone, actually."

He let the pillow drop down from his chest slightly, tightening his grip on it, and at the same time revealing the dark, open wound that drove through his chest and into his heart.

Oh yeah, he was subtle.

Why did people keep saying he needed-- oh, right, gaping chest wound, that made sense. Prefect glanced down absent mindedly, before looking back up at Aaron again, the eerily unwavering smile still stretching painfully across his face as he advanced, "Oh, that won't be necessary, Comrade, just come here for a moment."

This was obviously how it was done, Prefect suddenly charged his target, pillow bearing arms outstretched.

Well, that couldn't possibly have been good. Prefect's throat drove onto Aaron's outstretched fingers, and suddenly he was choking and staggering away, one hand clutching his neck. This was typical. This was absolutely typical. Could he not murder one person without sustaining a life threatening throat injury in the process?

Prefect coughed hard, still clutching the pillow tightly in one hand as he tried to right himself in time to return his attention back to the task at hand.

...Smothering a total stranger with a pillow. A total stranger who appeared to be considerably better at this than he was.

Prefect hated the Barge.

Great. Wonderful. Prefect hadn't even wanted to go on this killing spree, and now he was going to get beaten up by his second failed target. His head rocked back into the wall painfully, and there was a sickening crack that probably wouldn't have boded well for his chances of coming out of this encounter with brain damage if he hadn't already been technically dead.

The best thing to do - he reasoned with the unearthly demonic force inside his head - would be to apologize profusely and get out of here as fast as possible.

Apparently the unearthly demonic force inside his head disagreed, however, and he found his hand gripping the pillow a little more tightly. They were going to keep trying. Oh god, why would they keep trying when Prefect was obviously terrible at this?

"What's wrong with me is-- is you refusing to die, Comrade ( ... )

WHY IS MURDER SO HARD? :CCCC buywithme January 16 2011, 22:38:02 UTC
Why?

Why did everything he did on the Barge end with him being beaten up? Prefect curled in on himself as Aaron's knee connected with his crotch, suddenly breathless with pain. God, that hurt, that really hurt!

At some point he must have dropped the pillow, because he was suddenly gripping Aaron's arms, just trying to keep himself on his feet. Frostmourne was still nattering away trying to convince him to continue with his assault, and not for the first time, Prefect decided that the sword had drastically overestimated his ability to withstand pain.

NUH UH, you just suck at being murdered :c buywithme January 18 2011, 20:53:06 UTC
Prefect groaned, falling back against the wall the moment the inmate pulled away from him. He slid down to the floor heavily, watching a little resentfully as his failed target backed away. Frostmourne was still insisting that the fight wasn't over yet, that the younger man hadn't seen the last of them yet, but when Prefect's body simply refused to keep attacking? He won by default.

Screwing his eyes shut, Prefect gave a pained nod. He'd try someone who he knew next time, someone he knew didn't have a history in cage fighting.
