Capa had grabbed Hayley a while back to try and lead them both to safety. He honestly had no idea what place might be safe, unless they lock themselves inside of their rooms, but neither his nor Hayley's room was any more secure than locking themselves in a broom closet. And it didn't seem right. There were people being taken down to zero...he didn't know why...and he didn't know how they were being chosen. He just knew that they needed to stay out of sight.
"Hayley," he said softly to her as they approached a stairwell. "I'm going to go up and check it out. I'll call down to you if it's clear." He hadn't seen anything down the corridor yet...so he just hoped that she would be alright on her own. But if there was something up ahead, up the steep steps, he wanted to know about it.
"Don't go anywhere," he warned her and took the steps very carefully, his hand against the wall.
