Had the infirmary been less busy, or Persephone less stubborn, there might have been more of a protest of her leaving her sickbed when she did. If Edgar had simply attacked her from hunger, or didn't have her item, she probably would have just let other people deal with this but now she didn't feel right in letting that happen.

Having gathered people at the infirmary, Persephone was dressed in borrowed pajamas rather than her normally ornate dress, and she looked a bit like death warmed over. She walked through the hall looking for her errant and idiotic inmate.

Persephone's blood was powerful smelling and sweet, like flowers in the summer or some other poetical nonsense that Spike didn't plan on sharing with the rest of the crowd. The best thing about it was that it was recognizable, and he was sure traces would have remained on Edgar. He walked a little ways in front of Persephone, sniffing the air and waiting to pick up the scent.

When he caught it, he stopped, staring sharply down a hallway.

"He's very close," he said. "Doesn't smell much like himself."

Stephanie was just happy to have all of her gear back. She ignored Tim's advice (as usual) and opted for carrying her backpack with her, holding her utility belt and consequently everything she could possibly need. If anyone asked what she was doing with all of that crap, she could tell them she bought it at the last port. After all, the cheap handcuffs from the flood were easy enough to switch with the real ones she carried as Batgirl. She followed close behind, staff in hand and ready for a fight.

"What does he smell like?" She hoped there was a useful answer to that question, but she knew nothing about vampires that Franklin hadn't told her, and she had the feeling Spike worked differently.

"Right now? Dead. And not vampire-dead, dead-dead." He looks over at Persephone. "I don't know how this works, but I honestly think killing him fully and letting him death toll it out might be the best way to fix him."

"I prefer not to kill him if we can avoid it. I do not know that he would recover from that." Her voice was soft, because she didn't want Edgar to hear her if they were close. "I do not condone violence." And she didn't want him to think that this was a smiting simply because he had done something like it to her. No, Persephone was here to help him even when Edgar acted like a complete idiot.

Stephanie nodded fervently. "I'm a strong believer in the not-killing plan. Half the people on board are geniuses, right? Surely somebody can fix him." Of course, if they decided to kill him after all, she didn't know what she could do. Take them all down just to maintain her own personal moral stance? She wouldn't be involved in that sort of thing, but she couldn't stop it either. It left a sour taste in the back of her mouth.

"Can I also submit the philosophy that there's always another way?"

"I certainly pray that it won't be necessary to resort to killing him, but it may be a kinder fate." Tirion certainly could put a quick end to Edgar if it came down to it, the Ashbringer resting across his back. A jar of holy water was tucked underneath an arm as well.

"It is... magical in nature."

Spike shook his head. "Believe me, I'm all for not killing people, but you lot are forgetting that he's already dead." He looked over at Stephanie. "And for the record? Not always another way. And certainly not always a better way. It's not like death's even fatal here."

So they didn't want to kill him. That would just make this easier. It was so much easier to capture than to kill, and back home most wouldn't have gone to the trouble. As they walked, they came closer and closer to his hiding place, until he began to grow uneasy with their closeness. With Spike's sense of smell, he knew he'd be found, and with how close they were, he couldn't make a run for it without being seen. All that was left was to kill, and he was eager to do so.

Jumping out with a bat like shriek, he aimed to land on who he assumed was the weakest link. Steph.

Steph may have been the only one opposed to killing him, but she was far from weak. In fact, the moment he moved she was ready. A staff was no way to counter a charge like that, so she held on to it and kicked instead, sending her foot flying hard in the direction of his stomach. If he kept going after her, the staff was ready to come smashing down on the sensitive joint between neck and shoulder.

Persephone scowled at Spike for a moment, and then she touched her neck where the vampire had ripped out her throat and spilled her blood. She knew that she was tired, she felt ill and she was angry and the last thing that she wanted to do was to take that out on her inmate. Still, he had a valid point... perhaps Edgar's recovery would be better served if he died; who knew how long this was going to take to work from his system.

And then Edgar rushed out at Stephanie. There was a deep scowl and the goddess quickly shot vines at him again in an attempt to at least slow him down enough so that someone would be able to knock him out.

When she kicked him, he was sent back, screeching, before he lunged again, only to be delayed by the suddenly growing vines. This slowed him down enough that Stephanie's staff was able to make contact. He let out another bat like screech before the vines began to rot away and he lunged again.

Spike was ready this time. He moved in front of Stephanie with inhuman speed and growled. He lunged forward and moved to grab Edgar, hoping to pin him down to the ground. Just because he thought killing was the best option didn't mean he'd do it without the rest of the group agreeing. For now, he'd settle for stopping Edgar from doing whatever it was he planned on doing.

Edgar let Spike pin him to the ground, only to move his head forward in an attempt to bite Spike's neck, ignoring any logical flaw in such a move.

Spike almost laughed and jerked his shoulder back, putting an arm across Edgar's throat to keep his head down. It would choke a living person, but from what he could feel, Edgar wasn't breathing anymore. But it would probably be uncomfortable at the very least.
