any time during the flood - Libby and all viewers! thatlibbychick September 18 2010, 18:57:25 UTC
[Libby's sitting on a thickly-padded armchair on her platform; sitting on anything less for too long really starts to hurt her backside, so the chair was a necessary expense. She's dressed in a short, sleeveless white slip, tailored to fit her closely and show off her emaciation. Which is something she cant help, by the way; she eats several times an hour and it doesn't seem to change a thing. In fact, she's got a flask on her right now that she periodically sips from--it's filled with heavily sweetened milk.

The sign reads 'Marvel at Libby, the Living Skeleton!', and she's waving cheerily at any and all attendees who've come to gawk at her.]

During a bit of downtime in the freak tent, Iroh closes shop momentarily and comes around with drinks for the stars of the show - for Libby he brings a candy apple and a mug of sweet tea. He beams at her as he comes through and offers them up.

"How's the evening going, Miss Libby?" His accent is a little thicker, but his English is still perfectly coherent. "No trouble, I hope?"

Libby gives Iroh a big grin as she accepts the treats he brought for her. "Iroh, you are just the sweetest!"

She sips at the tea, planning to demolish the candy apple at the next lull in the crowd. "I'm doing just dandy. Nobody's been all that rude. And yourself? Making a lot of sales today?"

"Of course! Business is very brisk, miss, and why not? It is a beautiful night, and between ourselves, I think this town has been hungry for something new for a very long time."

"New's an understatement, my friend. This'll probably be good for 'em; get 'em out of their small-town narrow views, y'know?"

Not that cities were a whole lot better, but there was some difference there.

"Or force them in deeper, sadly. You know how it is. There are men who would claim that even a sweet woman like yourself is an unholy creature - but, let them pay their money to stare and judge. They do not know you like we do, and it is we who make the profit in the end."

Libby merely shrugs, still smiling, and pats Iroh on the shoulder. "I don't care what they claim, so long as they don't show up to harass me with it. I don't even mind the stares; it's just how people are, and most don't mean anything by it. I'm happy, and that's what matters."

He lays a gentle hand on her arm, briefly. "It is, my dear, it is. And for what it's worth, I think that you are very beautiful."

Libby blushes, tittering as she feels her face growing hot. She's not exactly swimming in compliments like that, not from men. "Why thank you, dear. I'm very flattered."

Iroh smiles, then steps back, hearing the exciting chatter of more visitors to the tent. "I had best be going for now, Miss Libby - but I shall come by later with more tea, if I have time. Even with these lights, I would hate for you to take a chill."

"I'm sure there's a line of hungry and thirsty people beating down your doors as we speak." She grins at him again, and gives a tiny wave goodbye. "Tea's much appreciated, thank you!"

He returns it with a grin and a tiny wave of his own, and vanishes out of the back of the tent just as another clutch of locals come shuffling along to marvel at the Living Skeleton.
