Leia had been sitting by Rose's side for part of the morning, journal in her lap and looking through a few things while she waited. In her conversation with Howie the previous day, she'd volunteered to speak with Rose about her death so they could put some kind of stop to the murderer. But the Ambassador was nearly nodding off when she heard the soft sound from the blonde in the bed. Quickly, she sat up straight in her chair.

"Rose?" she asked quietly, looking over to the woman, wondering what she could do to perhaps make this process go a littler smoother. "Rose?"

Leia set her journal down in her chair and stood to carefully gauge Rose's condition.

Rose laid eyes on the unfamiliar woman and winced slightly, closing her eyes again for the brightness in the room. But she was adjusting slowly and when she was able to keep his eyes open for more than a few seconds, she nodded her confirmation.

She opened her mouth to speak, but that brought only pain to her throat and to her face. Though the wounds were not there, she had intense pain still that caused her to wince.

Leia furrowed her eyebrows as she looked down at Rose. Quickly, the Ambassador got a glass of water, thinking it was what the other woman wanted. She held it out, now growing a little worried for her.

"My name is Leia, I've been sent by Sergeant Howie to talk to you," she continued quietly. "Can you speak?"

If not, she had her journal with her and things could be written down if necessary.

Rose gave a small sigh at the mention of Howie. Of course he wouldn't face her himself, though, if she was going to be honest, she'd admit that she really didn't want to see him, either. But why? Why was she here? She saw flashes of something...of what had happened.

A knife...a man with scars...she shuddered to think about it. About him. She couldn't remember everything he did, but she was starting to think that she didn't want to.

The water was welcome though and she reached out for it, her hands feeling strangely...lifeless. She couldn't hold anything.

At Rose's inability to hold the water, Leia swallowed a little and sat the water on the blonde's bedside table before she looked around for something that could be used as a straw. She found one and put it in the glass of water before she slid the table closer to Rose.

"You'll have to sit up," she felt bad for the woman and sat back down herself. "But be careful."

She'd only heard about the death toll through proxy but had not yet experienced it.

Rose gathered what energy she could and sat up, managing to prop her back up on a pillow. She reached for the cup and took a drink, ignoring the pain it caused, as it made her throat feel marginally better.

She looked to her hands then, memories flooding back to her mind. Nothing was wrong with them. She felt her face and got nothing but smooth skin. So it was true. One did come back to life after death here.

If this was considered life. She sank back down and gave Leia a long look.

Leia watched Rose, making sure that the other woman wasn't about to get sick everywhere but noticed the silence. Perhaps something greater than what the Ambassador was ready to deal with had happened to this woman who he'd honestly never spoken to before in her life. Nonetheless, Leia glanced away from Rose for a moment before looking back.

"I need you to tell me what happened," her tone delicate as she poised herself to take notes on her journal. "We need to catch who did this."

And hopefully before whoever it was killed again.

Rose agreed to that. She parted her lips to speak again, but the pain there was intense. She couldn't talk, at least not properly, and didn't want to risk it too much too soon. The pagan reached over clumsily, putting her hand over Leia's.

Slowly, she searched for the man's features in her mind and slowly reached up for her face, drawing a line across either side of her mouth with a bit of difficulty. She might not be able to talk, but she could still describe somehow.

It took several moments for Leia to figure out what was being conveyed and quickly drew a circle on her journal page with two dots for eyes and then for the mouth drew out what Rose had just displayed. The Ambassador then held out the journal and the pen for the teacher to at least gesture to if nothing else.

"Anything else?" she prodded carefully, not wanting to take it too far if the blonde didn't want to go there. "Anything you can tell me would help."

Rose thought a moment and took the pen between two fingers. It wasn't very stable and it wasn't very neat, but she was able to write out "White coat" at the bottom of the page. And, near the face, where the lines around the mouth were, she wrote "scar." Hopefully that would be enough to give him away.

Leia moved so she could see the writing and the formation of each of the letters. White coat. Scar. The Ambassador nodded silently and took another glance over to Rose.

"Thank you," she spoke with purpose despite not knowing exactly what to do with this information now. "Do you want anything to eat? It's about lunchtime on the 10th of July."

Or so her journal calendar told her. She didn't run on the twelve month system but it'd become almost old hat by now.

The schoolteacher hesitated for a moment before shaking her head. She wanted to see Crane, to make sure that he was alive, but she wasn't going to ask this woman. Rose had never met her in her life, and so she didn't trust anything about her.

However, she did reach over for the journal again, her fingers already trembling with fatigue.

Leia nodded at first when Rose shook her head but at the reach for her journal, the Ambassador allowed her to have it. She didn't understand exactly what Rose wanted but decided she could trust the schoolteacher to not do anything particularly terrible with her journal. But she watched nonetheless, and sat by the blonde's side, her gaze neutral as she did so.

Rose gratefully accepted the journal and once again took the pen between fatigued fingers. She scratched out the letters as best she could, quite aware of her terrible penmanship. Of course, neatness was the least of her worries. The message was for Leia alone and, after a few painstaking moments, she pulled her hand back to reveal her message.

'Any other victims?' was the message given back to the other woman. She was particularly worried about Crane, but she didn't want to admit that just yet. She simply wanted to know if she was the only one.

Leia continued to watch and when the journal was displayed back at her, the Ambassador read the message quietly before looking back to Rose.

"No, there have been no other reports of victims," she explained quietly, eyes on the schoolteacher.

Not yet at least, but Leia was the eternal pessimist, always ready for things to go wrong.

Rose nodded and then closed her eyes for a moment, breathing...thinking...before looking over to Leia in an almost gentle manner. Almost. Rose was anything but gentle. The news that she was the only one was both reassuring and heartbreaking. She reached over again and wrote out 'Why me?'

She didn't think the other woman would know but...Rose desperately wanted that answer.
