Ruby had been expecting him. She knew the signs, knew exactly what had happened. How it had happened was the question, though it didn't matter much. It was what it was. She didn't send out any warnings to her warden or her friends; he didn't care about them. What he was after was her, and after the events of the past couple of weeks, she almost welcomed it.

No matter what Libby told her, she knew what she was. She was a demon, and demons? Demons weren't supposed to cry, or care, or love an angel in any sort of way, let alone the kind she thought may be in her now. If anyone could cut all of that out of her, it would be Alastair, and though she didn't consciously acknowledge it, that's exactly what she wanted him to do.

It didn't stop the fear that rose up into her chest and throat, the fear she pushed down as she stood.

"Alastair."

"Dear, girl" Alastair dragged his eyes up the demon slowly. When he found her face he brought up the backside of his hand to trail down her cheek. It was about as slow as he was going to take with the brat. He had taken his time with his victims on the barge before but he didn't know how long this sensation was going to last. His goal was to escape, but that didn't mean he couldn't kick a few cans around before he reached the finish line.

"You couldn't possibly imagine what I woke up to today." He tittered with a smile wrapped around his face, peeling back that hand to be replaced in his pocket.

"Something new in the bran perhaps?" He called out to the kitchen. The staff was limited there. He didn't know their names or their faces. They were just walking bags of meat to him.

Ruby watched his hand as it slid across her hand, disgusted and terrified, not to mention a little impatient. "Smells like shit to me."

"Vacuous slut." He grabbed her jaw forcefully, pressing his hands into her cheeks. His words came through his teeth. "Your pedestal ain't as high as you think."
