"Starling, is that you?" He called out, rising to the door. Brian was overcome almost immediately with vertigo, slumping against the door as he opened it. "You sound distressed." There was clear concern in his voice, much too tired to prevent it showing through.
Pollux took a step back at Brian's state, shaking his head for a moment as he fought between the urge to run and the urge to just bury himself someplace safe. He forced himself to stand still for the moment, though his hands were clenching and relaxing at his sides.
Pollux stepped around him, turning quickly to keep his eyes trained on Brian's face. As long as he had something to focus on, he wouldn't start to panic again.
Pollux moved to sit beside him, the first time he had done so voluntarily. "No. Well, I don't think so. She pinned me against the wall in the corridor. And..." He looked away, almost as if he was ashamed of what happened. But, through it all, he kept his voice low, as calm as he could be.
His eyes widened minutely as he reached forward, grabbing half a cigarette off the table. "..Who is she?" he asked, realizing for the first time.. was he actually protective of this man? He had been so busy trying to get a rise out of him he hadn't actually noticed it before. Brian put his hand out, hesitantly dropping it to Pollux's wrist, but the other man could easily shrug him off. "Did she hurt you, Starling?"
Pollux wasn't even sure why he came. He didn't know what Brian could do, if anything, but he wasn't even sure if he wanted anything done. He just needed a place to go. A place to stay. A place to...feel safe again.
"I don't know who she is. She's...strong. And no, she didn't hurt me." He moved his hand away, but only to push his glasses up a bit, somewhat nervously. "I think she wanted to..." Oh, he couldn't even finish the sentence. He looked down, obviously awkward about this whole situation.
He shook his head at the offer, leaning back slightly and just looking up to the ceiling. This was not what he wanted to be doing in the time after his death.
"No thanks." He didn't smoke. He had tried the pot only because it was given to him. But, normally, he just carried cigarettes for his brother.
Brian took a short drag, setting the cigarette in his elaborate ash tray as he curled himself to face Pollux, arm hanging over the edge of the couch.
"I do look a mess, don't I?" he sighed, disheartened. His vampire experience hadn't been at all unpleasant, but it had left him dizzy and week to an almost alarming degree.
"I told you that at the door," Pollux said, glancing to the cigarette and then back to Brian. He moved away, then, now that the subject was off of him. He was suddenly aware of where he was.
"I was bitten by a vampire, how dreadfully fantastical, hmm? I hear it's all the rage, too, since their regular supply has vanished." He half-smiled, closing his eyes a few seconds.
Pollux drew back quickly, looking to Brian with a mix of horror and surprise. He didn't know what to think or what to say to that.
So, he did the best thing he could do. He just waited. And stared. Hoping for some kind of explanation to that. Vampires...no. This place was too insane.

"Yes...can you...hide me here for a while?"

"Is someone after you?" he asked, moving to sit as quickly as he could without.. falling.

"I would rather not say."
