When Jace had been in here earlier, he was pleased at the scenery, but hadn't been appropriately dressed for the heat. He was a little surprised to see someone lying down on the sand and wearing very little.

He had stripped out of his heavier clothing, but still wore his cloak over everything. It would keep him from getting a sunburn.

The woman looked familiar, and Jace wondered if she was one of the 'men' he had met over the past few days.

The shadow passed over her briefly, and Jubilee forced herself to wake up a bit. The warmth of the sun had been lulling her into dozing off. Probably not the best idea, considering that a few inmates did have access up here.

But not Creed. She couldn't help but feel a small bit of vindication about that. Served the psycho right. She just wished Kurt hadn't been the one caught.

She opened her eyes to slits and watched the man. "Hello Jace." Jubilee said in greeting, not moving from her towel.

She was someone he knew. Jace paused for a moment. "Jubilee," Jace said. That seemed most likely, considering the conversation he'd had with her when she'd been a man.

Jace sat down on the sand and stared out over the water. He could feel the mana in it, probably untouched by other mages. "Are you enjoying the beach?"

She grinned. He recognised her. She stretched like a cat and rolled over onto her stomach, resting her head on her arms. "I always enjoy the beach." She shrugged. "Needs more hot dogs and people around, but hey, a girl can't be picky.

"Yes. It's weird. I've spent most of the past several years in a place where there are people everywhere. Houses, cities, roads everywhere," Jace adjusted the hood of his cloak to keep the sun off his face completely.

"Being at a shoreline that isn't bustling with activity is nice, it's so quiet." Just the breeze, the waves, and sea birds. It was very relaxing.

She giggled. "I've spent the last couple of years in a house where there are something like two or three hundred teenagers, dude." Jubilee adjusted her sunglasses. "I like the peace and quiet."

"So do I," Jace agreed, getting a little more comfortable on the sand. All that energy was out there in the water, just waiting to be used. He wondered how long this place would remain in this state.

"Was that because of your abilities?" Jace asked. There were a few common reasons for children to be sent away from their families. Magic was the one that was generally left parents and children with little choice in the matter.

She nodded. "Big school." She shrugged. "It was okay, for the most part. I mean, some of the kids were cool, but for the most part, they were noisy, and when ya need quiet, two hundred teenagers playing tag or something doesn't help." Jubilee grinned. "I usually got back at them by going out partying or something."

"It sounds like a nice place," Jace said. So many students was a little surprising, she must have been from a populated plane, or an area that produced a lot of magically talented children.

He glanced out at the water again, "How long do you think this place will stay like this?"

She stretched a little, and rolled up onto one hip, bracing her head on her hand. "The mansion was cool. Always was home to any of those that needed it." She shrugged. Right up until it wasn't. But maybe that had just been for her.

Jubilee was watching him. "Well, Kurt told me that it doesn't change when someone's in it, so we're good until we both leave I guess."

Jace grinned, and turned to look at Jubilee. It would be a shame to not put this to good use while it was here.

"How about a little practice while we have such a nice place," Jace suggested. He hadn't seen what Jubilee could do, and there was enough mana available that he wouldn't have to worry about depleting his reserves. "It would be a shame to waste this."

Jubilee raised an eyebrow at him, from behind her sunglasses. "Practice?" She asked, almost incredulous. "You sound like my former team leader. It's a beach, dude." She shook her head, grinning. "Relaxing. Recreation. Sun bathing. Ya know, just going with the flow?"

She sighed. "Some people have far too much work ethic." She said grinning at him.

"Or you could go for a swim," Jace said as he got up and quickly backed away from Jubilee and the water. As soon as he finished speaking he started his spell, whispering quietly and quickly and reaching out to the ocean.

The waves were very calm, and breaking a safe distance from the shore, but that was about to change. Jace created a large wave and brought the water towards the dry sand where Jubilee was relaxing. It wouldn't quite make it up to her, but it would be a close thing given the way it looked as it approached the beach. "Better watch out. The tide's coming in."

She remembered what he said about his powers being water related. Her eyes widened and she sat up on her blanket. "You wouldn't dare." She hissed at him. She rolled up into a crouch.

One hand began sparking, and she watched between him and the water. "Jace, I would suggest putting the water back, if you don't want to end up blinded for a good part of the day...." She cautioned him, with a smirk.

He noticed the sparking hand and met her grin with one of his own. His next spell was an illusion, but he didn't think Jubilee could tell the difference.

"I think you'll find that harder than you expect!"

The real wave fell short of Jubilee. The illusion that covered wave, replacing it and making it seem larger, however, would crash over her and leave her thinking she had been drenched for several seconds before the illusion dissipated.

The thing about water was that it wouldn't put her pafs out. Any fire she started would go out, but not her powers. She knew that well enough - she'd used to blast water at people with them, after all. But Jace didn't know that.

Instead of worrying about the approaching water, then, she took a deep breath, and waited until the water crashed over her and flung her hand up. The pafs flew true, exploding a few inches away from Jace.

When she took another breath, she realised that she hadn't been drenched after all. "Oooh... sneaky sneaky." She said. Jubilee pushed herself upright, and stepped off her blanket. Lights swirled around her fingers still.
