What: Exploring the Barge!
When: Abigail's second day aboard
Where: Level 6
Abigail emerged from her room for the fourth time since coming aboard. Until now, she had only been out in the ship proper to relieve herself and to eat, and had spent the rest of her time reading the entries from the other inhabitants as quickly as they had appeared in her bound black journal. Now, however, she had the urge to see more of the ship.
Perhaps she would visit the library. It was a sin to read anything that wasn't of the Bible in Salem (where most things were a sin), and in Boston (where nothing was a sin) she could hardly afford the small room or the pittance she saved to buy passage to Barbados, much less a book. She thought she might like to see what sort of a library it was, and how big.
She would worry later about being kept a prisoner - after all, it seemed that she was allowed to roam freely. Surely, whatever her supposed crime, it couldn't be so bad that they would revoke her freedom.
