Terrans make no sense )
Though happy she was still able to get that kill promised to her of some random baddie, Baby was hoping to have spent time with the Master doing Christmasy things in the Christmasy city. Still, Rayne caved and was willing to take her and the Pavi to get a picture with Santa. More so, the dhampir had given permission for mischief making, to which Baby happily was going to comply. It wouldn't be hard at all making Santa feel awkward as all fuck. Pavi alone could do that, but put the two together? He'd be redder than his goddamn suit.
It was while waiting in line (before Pavi showed up) that she spotted Nero and his leery looks toward the fakey Santa. Licking her teeth, she eyed his tattoos and felt she'd seen him on the Barge before. Either he didn't trust the man or he'd never seen a Santa before. Baby smirked and called to him, "What, you scared he'll fuckin' eat you or something?"

Afteer this, she was going to be making sure her inmate was confined to a strict schedule of monitored freedom and incarceration behind closed door. Some, like Morgan, regarded the place like a mental asylum, but Rayne was one of those who treated it like a prison and judged things accordingly.
One which sotpped off at New York for Christmas... Yeah, right.
The facial markings of who Firefly called out to, gave Rayne a burst of recognition, but she hadn't interacted much with them, if at all. Still, he seemed to be there, on his own.
Of course, Baby cursing aloud while waiting in a queue of little kids, brought her a swift glare from the redhead, who muttered a, "They'll throw you out," before looking back his way.
A sigh... Because, as per usual, events showed all the signs of heading nowhere good.
"Never another warden around when you need one..."

"I don't know," he said, glancing from one to the other, then to the fat red Terran, "will he?" It was a perfectly serious question.
The redhead's mention of 'Warden' clinched it; they had to be from the Barge, which was something of a relief. If he failed to pass for fully human around them, it wouldn't matter as it would for any Terran who belonged here.

Because it was too much fun, because he had set himself up, Baby cackled and eyed the Santa before rolling her shoulders, swiveling her eyes back on Nero. "Stick close to us and we won't let him, yeah?"
She snickered, winking at Rayne.
"You've seriously never seen Santa before?"
Baby refrained from saying "a", again aware of the little children and not wanting to burst the whole Santa may be fake bubble. It was a fun belief, she could at least support that much.

One look at Firefly. Another at him.
Darn, but her own mischievious streak was surfacing...
"Uh... Depends on whether you're on his menu or not. He calls it his, ahem... 'List'."

"He makes a list of those to be eaten?" he asked, casing a side glance at the white-bearded human. His right hand unconsciously flexed--he wanted the Teral'n, damn it, but he was hardly surprised the weapon had been taken from him. Irritated, yes; surprised, no. The little Terran children didn't seem terribly concerned about the fat man, though they looked at him faintly uneasily--which also didn't surprise him. Nero might be more than a little nuts, but that didn't make him stupid--he knew what had to look like to most humans, hat or no hat. "Do they know this?" There was something that might almost have been a species of amusement in his voice, though not in his expression, which was largely unreadable.
He finally stopped near the two, looking from one to the other, and couldn't help wondering why both were on the Barge. He'd wondered that a lot about everyone he met, especially after his discussion with Ian. It was a type of introspection very alien to him, but not in a bad way--ironically, he was even more curious dead than he had been alive.

She sighed softly and eyed the kids before settling her orbs back on the alien. "Sorta? They know that if they've been good all year, if they've been nice? that they'll get gifts for their behavior. The bad kiddies just think they'll get coal. Big surprise comin' their way, huh?"
She almost elbowed Rayne, but refrained. Where was this guys Warden, anyway? Why didn't he explain the Christmas bullshit to him?

"Yeah and if they're lucky, he'll be the one intruder in the middle of the night who won't try and assault them. If, as I say, they're lucky..."

"I trust he will not be visiting the Barge," he said gravely, though there was still a little amusement in his voice. So far as he knew there weren't any children on the Barge, so cannibalistic fat men need not apply. "I--was told about this holiday, though evidently not enough." That with another glance at Santa. "Ian did not mention child-eating." He gave something that might, just might, have been close to a smile. "My name is Nero. I think I've seen you both, in passing."

She stopped long enough to thrust one hand out, smilingly ever so sweetly at the tattooed man. "I'm Baby Firefly. I might lie and say I wasn't an Inmate, buuut my Warden here would call my bluff." He was hard to read and that intrigued Baby. She suddenly wanted to know him better, know why he was here, who the fuck Ian was, and how he could be useful. With Two-Face done and Jessica gone, she needed a replacement.

She wasn't about to volunteer her nature. Not out here, with 'civilians' wandering around.
"Maybe you should make sure he never does..."

"I can hardly claim to have been good," he said dryly, taking Baby's hand once he remembered the Terran gesture. Her fingers seemed unnaturally cool to him, given how much higher Romulan body temperature was--even dead, apparently. "Though I somehow think murdering an old Terran man with a beard for breaking into my quarters would...not go over well," he added, far more quietly. "Since I would assume there aren't places to hide bodies on the Barge." They couldn't even be flushed out the airlock.

She threw a glance at Rayne, sighing at the mention of dead bodies and her associating with them. Not like Master and her killed the dumb Jones bitch anyway. Almost. Nearly. Brought her back to life just to torture her and do it all over again, but whatever, she was still alive.
"Want to get a picture with us?" She batted her eyelashes at him and smiled as sweetly as she could, the smile reserved for unsuspecting victims soon to be lured into the Firefly home for fun.

But that was no reason to reveal what she had come up with.
"With her," she thumbed at Baby. "I'm staying as clear of... Christmassy stuff as I can."

He looked at Baby and Rayne and back again. Nero had spent enough time around violent people to recognize his own, in a sense. He needed allies, or at least acquaintances--his prison-instinct recognized that, even if his conscious thought hadn't quite caught up. "So long as he will not attack us if we move to close," he said, just as lowly, now more than a little amused. "I was told not to draw too much attention to myself, and killing a fat man in front of so many people would...violate that." A little. Just a little.

She kept that sweet smile plastered on her face and moved along with the line as it inched forward. She wondered where the hell Pavi was, hoping, for his sake, he didn't flake out and blow her off. "Do you need your Warden's permission, Nero? How the hell did you manage to be alone in this city anyway?" Baby was taunting him, that much was certain.
