Max walked out of the rink with Cas laughing. The ass of her cargo jeans was wet because she had taken a tumble when the former angel lost balance and her instinct was to catch him. They both ended up landing on the ice though, and instead of being sore sports about it, they sought some amusement in it.

"That was really fun, Cas." Max said in an elated breath. "I mean, like I've never done anything like that before. It was bitchin'!"

Cas just gave her a long look and smirked to himself. "You can be so..proper at times and yet so...not at others." He brushed a bit of snow from her hair and then laughed, walking beside her.

"Well, that ate into a great chunk of our time. But, now that you are sufficiently beaten up, I think we can go dress shopping for you now." He rose a brow.

"Did you have any place in mind?"

Max just shrugged at the first comment and continued to walk with him. "I've been hearing that Macy's is a huge department store... but do you know any that are better?"

"Macy's? Perhaps. I would recommend Saks," he said softly. "More expensive, but, if you're going to be here with someone else's money, you might as well make the best of it." He knew about the place only because of his human watching.

He liked to see what they did and where they went. So he knew a few of their regular hangouts.

"Saks?" She didn't really know what that was. "Sure, if ya say so than I'll believe you."

"Saks Fifth Avenue," he told her and led the way there. It was a giant building, reeking of high fashion and fancy women. "It's been here for a while and is very upscale." He smiled down to her before opening the door.

Max stepped inside and looked around, something reminiscent of enamor on her face. "You're gonna have to help me out, Cas," she admitted sheepishly. "Dress shopping ain't exactly my forte."

"What leads you to believe that I know what I'm looking for?" He laughed and put a hand on the small of her back, just to give her some comfort. "You, my dear, are beautiful and would look wonderful in anyway." He wandered off, towards the women's section and where the dresses would be. "All you need to do is ask someone."

Max made an awkward face at the comment and gesture but said nothing. She just wasn't used to the way that he was treating her. That didn't mean she hated it, she just didn't know how to respond.

After a moment of searching and talking to a sales associate Max had a few dresses picked out and she waved them over to Cas who seemed to be looking at something else.

Castiel, who had wandered off, caught her gesture out of the corner of his eye and nodded, hurrying towards her, quickly shoving a small bag inside of his pocket. Giving her a grin, he eyed the choices she made.

"Those are beautiful," he said softly and walked over to the dressing area before making himself comfortable in one of the chairs. At least there were magazines to look at.

He opened one and waited.

Max tried on all six dresses and came out to get the yay or nay from him. She didn't know what was considered appealing exactly. She was not a dress person but if everyone else was going to be dressed up... she didn't want to look stupid.

She came out in the sixth dress. A pearl white dress with red flakes decorating the strapless chest and swishy bell skirt beneath its red belt.

"This is Christmas-y, right?" She smoothed it out over her frame and glanced down to the sandal heels on her feet.

Castiel looked up from over his magazine. Most of the dresses had been yays from him, though he wasn't exactly sure what was in "style" now. That's why he liked here. The last thing he wanted to do was make her look ridiculous.

"That is perfect," he said when she came out. "It's very Winter and...it looks fabulous on you." He smirked and then pointed to the mirror. "And look. It matches this perfectly." Carefully, he pulled the bag out from his pocket and opened the small box. Contained inside was a beautiful diamond necklace with rubies contained within. Almost as if he knew she would choose red...

He wrapped it around her neck delicately. "Perfect."

Max looked at herself in the mirror but was shocked when he placed the necklace around her neck. She had never been given anything like that. Hell, before this she hadn't even worn a dress. She didn't know what to say, so she just stared jaw agape back at herself and his reflection in the mirror, her brown eyes bashful.

"And no, I didn't steal it. Elizabeth asked me to get you something, and so I thought that you would need something for the party." He shrugged and then sat back down in the chair, placing the necklace back in the box.

"Aesthetically, it's very pleasing."

"No-- yeah... well, it is, I'm just not used to- nevermind." Max offered him a small smile. "Thank you."

"You're very welcome. After this, however, I should be getting back. Elizabeth probably has some curfew she forgot to tell me about and the last thing I want to do is get on her bad side again...I'm already staying in her room."

He snorted.
