kaiwynn's fault.

The first time Tanya meets the werewolf female, she is not impressed by the lowly girl's angry face, blistering eyes and sharp tongue. She is like crushed glass being rubbed together to create a dissonant symphony, full of accidentals and with very little melody.

"Who the hell are you?" the girl asks roughly, her large brown eyes flashing dangerously underneath the forest canopy, hands curled into fists.

"Temptation," Tanya answers sardonically, recalling Edward's nickname for her.

Her golden eyes glitter maliciously as she takes in the lean, athletic form of the human before her, thinking of ways she can render this anomaly helpless and weak. The young werewolf is no match for a mature vampire as herself, but she thinks the whole situation could very well be entertaining.

The girl explodes. Tanya smiles.

Leah realizes she chose the wrong person to fuck around with this time. After Tanya's done with her, she's left as a bloody, quivering mess and feeling so goddamned turned on. Tanya only smiles as she runs her cold fingers to press upon Leah's bleeding lip and gently massages the beautiful deep purple bruise on her cheek.

These are only marks of my love.

Leah hisses. Tanya sighs.

"We all have a tragic flaw, don't you think?" she asks many days later as they both lay side by side on the forest floor. They are both far away from the woods of La Push, so as not to break the treaty line. But they are somewhere and that's all that matters.

"What the fuck are you raving about now?" Leah answers, scoffing slightly. Tanya grins, knowing she has managed to confuse her little puppy once more. But the one more confused is her.  She's used to her partners in a relationship to be subordinate to her, submissive even, but with the werewolf they're almost equal.

Only almost though. Tanya is always one step ahead of her lovers.

"Didn't they teach you anything in school?" she mocks as her cold hand runs through Leah's dark hair. Leah snorts again. Tanya frowns. Why does she have to be so unladylike all the time?

"I barely graduated from high school because I didn't care anymore," Leah responds, her face relaxing as she gets momentarily lost in old memories. Tanya is mystified by the girl, really. If that Emily Young girl had been her cousin, she would have shredded the little bitch into pieces.

"The Greeks set two human flaws apart from the others. Hamartia and hubris. The first one is the act of fucking up all the time and the second is to be an arrogant fool...but I disagree with the concept of setting these two apart from other flaws. Can you guess yours, Leah?" she asks, slightly taunting.

Leah rolls her eye. Tanya is just going to be one of the many who has offered her opinion on her.

"You can't let go. You just suck in everything and pretend it doesn't hurt you even when it does. You're not honest with yourself. Do you like being a martyr?"

"What about you then?" Leah asks, ignoring Tanya's analysis on her personality.

"I'm flawless."

Leah laughs. Bitterly.

"I'll let you in my secret, Leah. My 'flaw' is that I honestly don't care. I just don't."

-

Leah and Jacob are sitting together, a few days after Tanya has departed once more for the north. Jacob cannot understand (nor is he willing to, he is more content to wallow in his prejudices) how Leah let herself be led astray by some vampire whore. They should have known better, they should have guessed this was coming. But Leah likes keeping everyone on their toes.

"When did you realize you loved her?" he asks, curious to hear her reply (he is also afraid).

"When her fist connected to my face."
