So it's been a while...
Something great happened on the weekend, and it reminded me how much I enjoyed writing on Livejournal. I'm going to try to keep it up again. I like writing. I like producing things in general, and I've been slacking off. That's not good, so I'm changing it.
Maybe this is connected to an NPR story I heard today about how people that write blogs while young become much better writers in later years. I like that idea (goal 142: write a book), so I'm set to stretch out the ole' fingers and get to typing. Here goes...
The greatness of this weekend was getting to see Trent and Jim in the flesh. It highlighted a few things about my current state of being. It reminded me that I really like people. It's been a weird transition from college to real life, and one of the things that has fallen off in the shuffle is my vigor to meet and develop relationships with people. Part of that is just being in a new city with no built-in social network. Part is working with one person, my employer, who is in her 60s. And part is me getting my ducks-in-a-row with life.
Livejournal makes me more self-reflexive. It also helps my mind stay active. I've been getting that sick feeling of stagnation. The kind that creeps around you until it's impossible to shake. The kind that makes you stop analyzing things, and gets you set in your ways. Well, the hell with that.
My ducks are lining up. They're ready to cross the road. The traffic is slowing down, and Duck Number One is taking his first step. Godspeed.
