I've had some bizarre experiences lately.
It started last night when the Thai restaurant was playing soft-core porn on their big TV. My friend asked if they could change it to the ball game. They said no. I ate my yellow curry and tried not to look at the dancing naked photo-shoot going on above my friend's head.
When I got home I scratched my back. Before I got into bed, I scratched again and my fingers felt wet. I turned on the light and realized it was blood. Somehow, right above my tattoo, I was bleeding. It took forever to stop. I threw on a band-aid and went to sleep.
I had fevered dreams. I think our heater was on too high, I kept tossing and turning, dreaming of earthquakes, of my powerbook breaking, and of a long journey into a deciduous forest. At 5:20 I woke up because something was whimpering, inside of our room.
I jumped into a half-crouch (amazing how quick you can wake up when you think you're in danger) and looked around. Then I realized it was Zach, making a loud whimpering noise. I said his name a few times until he woke up. He had been talking (whimpering) in his sleep. He had been aware of me calling his name, but he couldn't stop, couldn't force his body to wake up. This is a symptom of narcolepsy, a disease that Zach suspects he has. Now I believe him.
Later, in class today, we turned in papers and watched a series of very strange videos. We got out early and I went to the nearby gallery. I watched 6 more strange videos - people screaming, women loving horses, and a man telling others about the disgusting hijinks in a beef-packing factory.
I feel scattered and disoriented. I think I have a fever, but I'm not sure. Somehow I'm looking at the world with new eyes.
