Locked to Sephiroth/Genesis - Viewable to Task Force

Dec 16, 2008 09:59

((Genesis is basically being really, really sneaky. The Task Force members can see this, but not reply. From Sephiroth's POV, of course, there's no indication the Task Force can. He hopes.))

This ends now, Sephiroth. Don't make me bring a halt to it.

genesis is not amused, lecture in 3...2...1, task force, kadaj, to a world that abhors you and i, hero of the dawn, sephiroth

[Either he hasn't noticed or doesn't care - there's no indication in his sharp laugh, clearly audible over something crumbling in the background.]

Bring a halt to it, Genesis? You? And what would you do?

Yes, I can.

I may not be able to defeat you alone, but with part of you helping me, I think I can.

A part of me. A fragment. And you. You really believe this, don't you?

I believe it. It doesn't surprise me that part of you would stand with me against the rest of you.

I wonder what that says about your mentality.

Maybe he represents everything you once managed to poison, that you tried to again.

But no more.

I don't want to be against you, Sephiroth, but I don't want the city destroyed either.

I did poison you. I can accept that. I was the one who polished you into the perfect monster you are. Never struck me as quite fair.

You did nothing but hold me back.

Mother showed me the way. Mother gave me all I'd ever been missing.

Mother made me the god I am now.

I reminded you what it was to be human.

Perhaps. Perhaps not.

You are not a god, Sephiroth, no more than I am. Both one-winged and incomplete.

[A humourless snort.]

Naturally. You tried to keep me from Her. You tried to keep me trapped.

Your opinion stopped mattering to me the moment Mother opened my eyes to truth. Poison Kadaj all you wish. I won't be so simple.

((Genesis sounds tired and resigned, flames burning low for the time being))

No, I told you who and what she and you really were. One could look at it that I freed you from one trap only to let you be tangled in another.

Truth is subjective. Never forget that.

I will tell Kadaj what 'Loveless' is if you quit the battlefield for a time.

Truth is truth. Knowledge. Power. Enlightenment that only Mother gave.

Do you think I need him? Another fragment? Do what you will. I have much to make up for, thanks to you four.

No, truth is a point of view. You see hers.

I think you do, yes. You've lost enough of yourself.

I see all. I am a god. There are no shadows I cannot see through, no barriers that can stand in my path.

I've gained everything. Only now am I whole.

You are not. I stand in your path, and you cannot move me unless I wish to be.

You've lost everything. You just don't realize it. We lie best when we lie to ourselves.

I'm giving you this one chance here and now, Sephiroth. Quit the battlefield and call back your creatures. Then, I will tell Kadaj what 'Loveless' is about and who the Goddess is in it. I'm sure he'll be more than happy to exact revenge on me for you.

You are even more fool than I thought if you think I care for what you do.

We wouldn't be having this discussion if you didn't. You wouldn't argue against Kadaj if you weren't. Nothing like trying to convince yourself, is there?
