St. Martin's Rocks Out Philly!

Yeah, as you might guess, we had an awesome time in Pennsylvania! So, we were off to a great start when Brenda and I show up to the church a whole hour and a half late, but after that, it was all good, LOL. The original plan was to stay in a church gym in Philly, but then, it changed to all 20-something of us staying at Beth's house... no, it was not as bad as it sounds, actually! At least we got showers, LOL. So, Friday, Fr. Steve gave us an awesome talk, and then we went for some adoration, where I came upon a strong realization of something, but I won't disclose yet, in case I am just going crazy, but I doubt it. Prayed the rosary outside at night in a prayer garden, which was nice. Then, I couldn't get to sleep for a long time, for various reasons, haha...

Saturday, we went to Philly for morning prayer, a talk, some praise and worship, and morning mass. Then, we went to a random park by some lake (or was it a river?) near some boathouses for an outdoor lunch with some Philly cheesesteaks from Fiesta's (Fr. Steve's choice). We chilled there for a bit, then went to the Shrine of St. John Neumann, where we also saw his uncorrupted body. Kinda weird, but something all Catholics should experience. After that, we tried to see some sights in Philly, but apparently many places close before 6 on a Saturday in the summer... hmm... After that, some good old Saturday night adoration, and even confession, which was really good for me. Heading back to Beth's house was interesting, a techno club inside a car... an Audi S4 to be exact... hahaha, good times. So, we got back at a reasonable hour, but of course, we didn't sleep that early. The guys decided to pray together, and talk, and there was some joking around, of course, so we didn't get to sleep until 5 in the morning. Nice.

Sunday we went to mass, but I guess none of us really thought that we would be taken to an actual mass, where there were white people dressed up (no offense to anyone)! So, how do you think a group of mostly Hispanic, scrubbed-out teenagers must have looked to them? It was all good, though, especially when we started to clap to the closing hymn and we were the only ones clapping... After that, we planned on going to Villanova, where Beth went, to take a look around. Of course, first we had to look for people left behind at the church... But, eventually, Jackie and Brenda were found, and we got to tour for a bit around Villanova. Then, it was a cookout at Beth's house, thanks to her father, and it was good to be able to chill. After a lot of procrastinating, we make the long journey back home.

Of course, this entry does not do justice to all of the funny moments that we had on the trip, and I hope everyone remembers how to do the Fr. Kevin ("POP!"). This weekend will definitely go down in my youth group memories for a long time. It was nice to do something awesome with great people for one last time before college. =)

Monday and Tuesday are not really worth mentioning, to me, so I won't go into it much, except that it involves actually starting work, and youth group was fun, especially since the guys won Scattergories and were served by the girls. Hehehehe. So, can I do a presentation for anyone???

The future is very near. I move in to McDaniel on the 23rd, can you believe it? At the very least, I got my rooming assignment on Friday... I'm in a double room with two other roommates... yeah, talk about lack of space. But, I have already talked to my roommates, and they both at least seem cool. We shall see when we actually move-in. But yeah, it's really sinking in that I will be leaving soon... don't worry, though, I'm still trying to cram in as much hang out time with people as possible. At the same time, it's very exciting to be starting somewhere new very soon... I wonder what McDaniel, and God, have in store for me...

OK everyone, until next time, and God Bless!
