I have been completely worthless today on account of being tired. However, it was ENTIRELY worth it.
Bad bad times and my bad bad temper started the previous night off. Still, summer puled through. First off, it was Sunday, which means ROCK OF LOVE... absolutely fantastic episode, even though I still don't know why "circus tits" had to go home... RIP circus tits.
Kim and Tim were leaving the next morning for Tahoe, so they got some sleep.. Myself and three other companions, however, got no sleep at all. Last night was the meteor shower, and we were determined to see it. The underage half of our group drinking in the car and Timbaland blastin on the stereo, we took to GTI down to.. well, god knows where. I sure don't :)
I drove this really scary windy road on a cliff with a creepy bridge, and I think I did really well!! I was proud of myself for not falling victim to my falling-off-a-cliff phobia. Despite my relentless attempts to encourage meteors to fall by making their mating call ("Pew!! Pew Pew!! Pew!"), it was pretty tough to see them. Eventually we pulled over in this driveway for a house that was under construction. Finally, through the smoke of a few cigarettes, we saw meteors!! And the little dipper (which, in fact, is crucial for meteor viewing)! It was pretty awesome..
But alas, the good times had to end, as we got Maggie to the church.. I mean, work, on time. Poor Maggie had the 4:30am shift at the coffee shop, but I'll be damned if we didn't get her there on time. And by on-time, I mean in enough time that her bladder didn't explode all over my front pasenger seat. We attempted to go see more meteors at McGlincy, but all we really found was a river that everyone there could pee in except myself..
All of a sudden, it was 5:15am, the optimal viewing time for meteors! We went back to my apartment to watch from the porch. There was added enjoyment because being at my apartment meant wine. And lots of it. I was a lady and drank out of a very large glass, while my two gentlement companions just drank out of the bottle. Porch lights were unscrewed so that we could see, and I finally got to spot some excellent meteors... One of my favorite parts was at this point, when Kim woke up to find us all a little buzzed and still awake... She just looked at us like "Really? seriously?" and says "Oh wow.. I am going the fuck back to bed." :)
Sleep finally found us after a bit more wine. I halfway woke up not really on time to give Maggie her car keys back when she got off from work, but I went right back to bed. Finally it was about 4pm, forcing me to leave a bed (and arms) that I was not thrilled to leave.. but still causing me to proclaim the whole thing the best Monday ever.
Lesson learned: No matter how stressed/upset you are, no matter what time you have work the next day, good times with good friends is always, always, worth it.
