I've been super busy since my last post. It's a good thing I juggle, because there are a lot of balls in the air. Most of my time has been taken up doing Elections Canada work, climaxing in the 19 hour supreme-test-of-patience that was the 40th General Election. In my off hours I've fit in some contracting, nothing special, just putting up shelves, mirrors, etc. But I was well compensated, and some extra cash in the pocket is always good. Throw in the occasional party and sleepless night and you start to get the idea...
Saturday was especially busy with lots of biking. It started with a full work day of answering phones at the EC office, which I admit, is pretty easy (Dufferin & Dundas and back). Then a few hours of contracting (Spadina & St Clair and back), then go to celebrate Andrea's birthday at the Drake Hotel (Dufferin & Queen*). I invited
heinous for the express purpose of picking her brain about Peru (Mmmmmm BRAAAAAAAAINS!), seeing as how she's been there. All in all it was a fun night, with more than the usual share of chaotic events that happen around me.
After various fits and spurts Tim, Mari, my mom and I went up to Uncle Gordon's woodlot for Thanksgiving. Good food, good company, I passed along various video messages from relatives in Germany.
Monday was more elections work and a slight calm before the storm, and the events of Tuesday deserve a post all their own. Wednesday was a bit of a rest day, then puttering around getting trip stuff done.
In 7.5 hours my plane should be taking off for Peru. My luggage is packed, time for me to crash out for a few hours.
*on my bike I can beat a taxi all down to Queen, assuming I don't stop to buy gum. Have I mentioned lately how much I love my bike?
