Homage to Daniel Jackson

This is what moonshayde had to say: Celebrating SG-1's Finale Week: Daniel

What is your fave Daniel line?
OMG, I cannot find one! It's driving me mad! Daniel is my favorite character and I cannot bloody find him a line?! My only explanation for this is that I love him SO much that I adore everything he says and everything he does, so yeah. BUT, if I had to choose something, it would be: "Knowledge is power, but how you use that power defines whether you are good, or evil." (The Powers That Be).

What is your fave Daniel episode?
First it was "Legacy" just because he's HOT when he's crazy.
But "Meridian" wins, because it was his moment to shine; he sacrificed himself and then was lead into, what was considered, the greatest journey of learning. The episode might as well have been named Daniel.

If you could sum up Daniel in one word, what would it be?
Pure, not in the sense of his physical actions, because he's done some things that he's not proud of, but his soul, his essense shines so bright....like *pure* energy.

When did Daniel first start to show adaptation to the military mindset?
In a way, Daniel's never truly adapted to the military mindset, because he'll never have the 'kill first, ask questions later' mentality. Now, I'm not saying that's what the military does, but that's apart of the animalistic nature of military personnel that Daniel still avoids. Daniel may carry weapons and use them well, but he's never truly adapted to their second-nature combat-readiness. He's still the scientist at heart. But I think it started at the beginning of Season 2, because he'd have to toughen up on SG-1. Season 1 was like training;p

How do you think Ascension impacted Daniel?
It wasn't what he expected, for sure. He was expecting to learn more about the universe, how things worked, why things were the way they were, how to strive towards the balance of good and evil. He was not expecting to see his friends suffer without him, and not be able to do anything about it. He didn't expect to realize that being in a higher plane of existence meant indifference, to put it lightly, and the cold weight of not having anything but cryptic wisdom and no one to turn to. I think Daniel was lonely, he couldn't take not being a part of the world, the galaxy, the universe, he worked so hard to make better. He desperately needed people who understood that rather than shunned him for trying to achieve a greater purpose, which was nothing ascension symbolized. Ascension gave him appreciation for the short life that he had, and what he could do with that life. It showed him that he is worthy of his existence. When he was about to ascend, he didn't think he deserved it, but in reality, he was much greater than that. Ascension is for followers, Daniel was a leader.
