This has suddenly become one of the busiest media consumption weeks I've ever had, lol.
I just finished Joker's SP and I have to say that I've really enjoyed this series. While I was reading others' reviews of the drama, I had high expectations, and it certainly didn't let me down :)
As I've said before, Sakai's Date is adorable and I don't know how else to describe him. I'm so glad there was an SP, because there was an extra scene between himself and Katagiri. He was doing a random magic trick at her apartment, and I just want to hug him forever ^^
I also like how they shed light on how he got to eating at that ramenya in the first place. Seriously, this man is a masochist and he he will never atone enough for his 'sins.'
I have to say that Joker's last episode was really well done, too. Usually, a drama closes its plotlines too quickly or in a foolish 'let's make everything better' way, but I didn't see that here. Yes, the bad guy was caught and there was resolution for Asuka, but I still feel like it was a realistic ending. Maybe it didn't end with a bang, but I think there's a possibility of a sequel, so that's ok ;)
One of my favorite scenes from the last episode was the triangle shot between Asuka, Date, and Kudo. The set-up for that emotional tension was perfect, because just hours before, Kudo was in the hospital and in desperation, Asuka had said, "I'll kiss you if you wake up."
Kudo was getting better, so he drove Date to meet up with Mikami (make the bleeding man drive, why don't you, Date-san XD) and while sitting in the car resting, he called Asuka to say, "I'm awake now, kiss me."
And so when the time comes for Asuka to arrive at the scene, she's facing the man who killed her brother, facing Date who played a part in the whole Joker thing, and has to sort out seeing Kudo after saying such things...it's just so good! :D
Definitely watch it if you're looking for something dark with even spaces of humor :Db
I finally watched Dare Kissu and um, I don't even know what to say. At first, it was extremely awkward for me to see Maki with Zuckerman and then falling for Kenichi. Maki's acting did not help matters XD Kylee, the singer of the movie's promo song "Kimi ga Iru Kara" cameoed as Tegoshi's g/f...also very weird to see XD The school setting was cool, and hearing the English bits was fun, but other than that...it was so weird for me, lol.
This might be my bias, but I think Maki's and Tegoshi's interactions saved the movie for me. It took a very long time to get there, but we find out that Maki had lost her memory while getting the camera from the yearbook staffroom, and if not for her friendship-bordering-on-love 'relationship' with Tegoshi, things wouldn't have turned out that way. I'm leaving a lot of details out here, but that's the gist.
But, I do have to say that the photography aspects thrown into the cinematography was unique and captivating. I loved the scene where Maki and Kenichi threw cameras about, causing the cameras to take beautiful, candid, shots of the sky, building, people, everything. And I loved how they incorporated that shot right into the scene and Maki shattering the image as she walked through it. Brilliant! :D
I've also finished Mioka, Hotaru no Hikari 2, and Liar Game: The Final Stage, but I'll save my rants for the drama meme that I'm finally caving in and doing ^^
Bones starts again tonight, SO EXCITED!!! :DDD
