SnN and SGU

Today, I finished my last paper and took my last class as an undergraduate student!!! \:D/
Now, for finals and then I'll be FREE! *does happy dance*
I got my cap and gown today, and it is HUGE! So excited :DD

While I was writing my papers, I downloaded the movies: Tengoku wa Matte Kureru, Closed Note, Silent Wind Chimes, and Love Exposure.
I find that if I download a massive file, it'll clog up my Internet and I can't distract myself with videos XD
However...I did watch Nodame Cantabile's raw movie streaming and I want more Nodame/Chiaki interaction! :P I squealed at the sight of Tanihara-san, and I know he has a bigger part in Part II :D
Somebody requested Tenshi no Koi to be uploaded on asian_doramas, so I hope somebody does!

Onto the grand debate: will "Sunao ni Narenakute" (SnN) turn into another version of "Last Friends" or will it blossom into another "Love Shuffle" (LS)?

I never really thought of comparing SnN to LS until walkwithheroes mentioned it, but now I see the comparison. Here we have several character storylines that are interwoven, facing struggles, and hopefully conquering them.

Reviewers are saying there is too much angst packed into SnN from the very beginning, which is true. LS never truly had this; the problems they faced in finding love were somewhat trivial compared to what SnN is showcasing. However, if the problem is juggling character development while facing all these issues, I think that SnN has the potential to pull it off given the right execution. LS had eight people to shuffle around, compared to five here. While the five's problems still include other people like that creepy guy in the telephone booth, Haru's brother, and Nakaji's mysterious tattooed women, there is still a chance that the writer/producers were smart and solved problems in a way that's manageable.

Personally, I'm the type of viewer who subconsciously allows the good moments of the drama to cloud over the angst of it all. Right now, even though I see that there are a lot of problems brewing, I can let it slip by if the character interactions are still enjoyable. Right now, I'm banking on Eita and Ueno Juri's chemistry to pull this drama from a wasteland of angst. I know it's coming, but their relationship, so far, is so intriguing and amusing to me, that the rest doesn't matter as much. Their simple "ganbare" inside-joke was enough to make me smile and think, 'something could be good here.'
(Oh, and the ending of ep.2; I knew Nakaji was going to somehow sneak his way to the other side of the platform to comfort Haru, and just like magic, there he was! :P)

As for the comparison to "Last Friends," I'm not quite sure what to think. I can't recall much of how I felt when I watched it, but I guess I can faintly see the Ruka/Takeru angst showing up. I'm hoping the actors will channel more of a Nodame/Mine characterization, because that would be awesome :P In the end, I do hope that those two (and everyone else) will become truer to themselves, but time can only tell now.

I liked the "Twitter" aspects of it and I hope they continue with it. It made me think about my own use of the site and how I'm not fully using it, because I can't update from my phone. I think the best part of "Twitter" is telling people about what you're doing randomly in the middle of the street or something. I wish I could do that- most of my updates are about procrastinating and thoughts on random videos XD

I'll stick with this drama for now. I went into watching the first episode with dread, thinking it would tank, but I will dare say that it wasn't that bad. Perhaps expecting the worse lowered my expectations :P
In any case, I adore Eita and Kitagawa Eriko; I do not want this to be a flop.

Also, there are a lot of English songs on the show's playlist. One such instrumental being Glasgow's Love theme from "Love Actually" -I was taken aback. I hope it gets put to good use. As of right now, it's just thrown in when I feel it doesn't even fit the mood of the scene :/

annerbhp brought something to my attention the other day. The 14th episode of Stargate:Universe, "Human," finally made me want to watch for the show that it is and not just because I loved its predecessors. There may be many factors contributing to this, but I think it really is the elements I missed from SG-1 and SGA that I wanted to finally surface in this episode. There was the science, the angst, the no-getting-out-of-this-trouble, some character background to a character I once hated, and not to mention Daniel popping up out of nowhere. I thought it was all that that I was craving for, but annerbhp reminded me of what I was just arguing with Chad about a week before -I want the team dynamic back! I want episodic episodes where teams go off-world and get into a mess and somehow find their way out. In the meantime, we get to see amusing and important character interactions. I really do miss that!
I know SGU has to be a separate entity of this franchise, a new formula, if you will, but the foundations that made the other shows great still need to be here.

Ok, so characters. I just want to say that I want to throw Chloe out the airlock >:(
Eli, I want to hug him so hard and tell him not to believe her.

My feelings for Col.Young and Camille are ambivalent, but leaning more towards meh. This may be due to the fact that they are really the two heads that butt in a political manner. I really don't care for that stuff, even thought it's essential to the plot.

I thought I would hate Dr. Rush forever, but now I realize what's making him act the way he is. His character is so much more likable now, because I see he was once someone who cared, someone who also lost the one he loved :/ It's interesting that I like characters who have suffered -it shows me that they are human ^^
I really like

Aside from Eli, the three characters I enjoy are Lt. Scott, TJ, and Greer ^^ I hope this becomes an SG-team :P The medic, the geek, the brawn, and the leader, lol. Eli could be the next Daniel, since he's so much the problem solver, the negotiator who wanted to solve conflict and not resort to drastic measures, and the only civilian of the bunch :)

The potential baddie!Alien look very high-tech and remind me of something I've seen in Mass Effect or something. Perhaps John Scalzi had something to do with that; very cool.
The music reminds me of BSG's and a bit of Firefly's as well. I love how this show has more music overall :) I can't wait till SGU actually has an opening theme!
